About this role

Meta runs a massive hardware infrastructure. The computational problems are big and they keep changing. Your work will shape the power strategies for the compute and AI hardware going into our data centers. We are looking for an experienced power engineer to set the technical direction for power across our server infrastructure.

The scope is the full power chain, from the data center interface to the die. Everything between the building's electrical infrastructure and the IT load, high-voltage DC distribution to the rack, AC/DC and DC/DC conversion in the rack, and DC/DC power delivery on the board. Point of load conversion and power delivery networks feed our accelerators and CPUs at hundreds of amps and sub millivolt tolerances. The multi-hundred-kilowatt AI rack is where they meet.

This is a technical leadership role that owns the power roadmap. Internally, the role works with silicon, platform, thermal, data center design, and capacity teams to define where power architecture needs to go two to three generations out. Externally, it is Meta's technical voice with power vendors, ODMs, and the industry. That includes the Open Compute Project, where we have contributed our designs for over a decade.

Responsibilities

Own Meta's multi-generation rack and row power architecture strategy. This spans AC/DC and DC/DC in the rack and high-voltage DC delivery to the rack. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adopt architectures across infrastructure
Own the DC/DC power conversion architecture for accelerators and CPUs. Point of load topology, power delivery network design, vertical power delivery, telemetry and control. Drive it with silicon, package, and platform teams from silicon requirements through production
Set the technical direction for power technology development and industry alignment. Supplier and ecosystem readiness has to match the hardware roadmap at scale. This applies to AC/DC and DC/DC
Set the technical bar for power design, review, and qualification across the organization. Be the final technical authority in design reviews and architecture decisions with fleet-wide consequences
Find and de-risk emerging power technologies ahead of program need. 800V DC distribution, solid state transformers, high density conversion, energy storage and ride through
Represent Meta with power vendors, ODMs, and standards bodies including the Open Compute Project. Shape industry roadmaps so the supply base can meet our requirements
Own Meta's power strategy at the data center interface. Rack input voltage and topology, busway and whip interfaces, power factor and harmonics, redundancy model, ride through and energy storage placement, and the power capping and telemetry contract with the site. Drive one position with Data Center Design, and Capacity
Work with silicon, platform, thermal, data center design, and capacity teams to resolve power-driven trade-offs at the system and site level. Power budget, efficiency, TCO, and deployability
Lead the rack-level power roadmap with cross-functional teams and vendor partners to achieve long-term scalability of Meta's power infrastructure
Grow the technical depth of the power organization. Mentor senior engineers and raise design and review quality
Drive the resolution of the highest severity power issues in the field. Use production experience to gain improvements in vendor and internal design quality
