About this role

Description

Amazon's Corporate Identity and Access Management (IAM) team is seeking a talented Security Support Engineer to help make the secure way the easy way. You will support programs that deliver innovative approaches to securing access management at massive scale, working directly with business owners across the company to drive security initiatives from problem through to resolution. This is an opportunity to operate as a technical lead, applying your expertise in complex problem-solving, pattern recognition, and automation to strengthen Amazon's security posture.

In this role, you will resolve complex access management issues, help customers adopt new security products, and bring configurations in line with current security standards. You'll identify trends across cases to set the technical approach for recurring problems, drive automation at scale, and act as a subject matter expert who mentors less experienced engineers. Your work will have direct impact on how Amazon secures access for internal and external identities.

Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drive security-related operational initiatives in a security-first, enterprise-scaled environment
- Assist customers with following remediations steps, identify any blockers, and recognize patterns or trends.
- Work directly with customers to help them adopt new security products or adjust their configuration to meet current security standards
- Contribute to scripting and security tool development efforts
- Own security metrics delivery and improvements
- Directly support Security Engineers by contributing research for IAM security reviews and initiatives
- Act as a subject matter expert, handle escalations, and mentor other engineers on the team

A day in the life
You drive the remediation of known security issues by working directly with customers to help them adopt new security products or adjust their platform configuration to comply with the latest security standards. As an experienced engineer, you identify issue trends and apply automation to drive bulk remediations. You set the technical direction for how the team resolves recurring problems, handle escalations, and collaborate with engineers across Amazon to strengthen security practices.

This role includes occasional on-call responsibilities.
