Laboratory Assistant (Specimen Processing)

Shift: Monday-Friday, 12:00 AM - 8:30 AM
### Position Overview
We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistants to join our specimen processing team. In this role, you will support laboratory operations by receiving, sorting, accessioning, and preparing biological specimens for testing. This is a fast-paced, production-based environment where accuracy, organization, and attention to detail are critical. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in warehouse operations, production, logistics, inventory management, manufacturing, or laboratory support who are interested in working in a healthcare-related environment.
### Responsibilities
Receive, sort, and stage incoming specimens for laboratory testing. Accession and label samples while ensuring accurate documentation and tracking. Prepare, aliquot, and organize specimens for testing and storage. Perform quality control and quality assurance checks to identify and resolve discrepancies. Maintain accurate records, logs, and data entry within laboratory systems. Pull, rework, and reconcile specimens as needed. Package and prepare specimens for transfer or shipment to designated testing facilities. Follow all laboratory safety, regulatory, and standard operating procedures.
### Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in warehouse, manufacturing, production, logistics, inventory control, data entry, or laboratory environments preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately. Comfortable working with biological specimens in a laboratory setting. Ability to maintain productivity while meeting quality standards. Basic computer skills and experience with data entry. Experience with specimen accessioning or sample processing is a plus but not required.
### Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Ability to lift and move materials up to 30 pounds. Comfortable performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
### Work Environment
This position operates in a laboratory production environment focused on specimen processing and handling. Team members spend much of their shift sorting, labeling, tracking, and preparing samples for testing and shipment. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Burlington, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
