About this role

Description

Are you passionate about solving transportation challenges and delivering a world-class experience to customers? If so, we are seeking a candidate who would be keen to join our team at the Amazon Delivery Station in Bella Vista, Sydney (DNS4).

About the Role
As a Transportation Specialist, you will play a vital role within Amazon Transportation Services. You will coordinate team members performing trailer moves, oversee yard activities (including check-in, traffic flow, and internal communications with dock teams), conduct yard audits and inductions, support incident investigations, and complete driver training programs (e.g. Hostler) as assigned in accordance with business needs to support Amazon's transportation network.

This role operates on a Monday to Friday shift pattern, primarily during night shifts.

Ways of Working
Your direct manager will not always be based on-site. You should be comfortable working autonomously and connecting with your manager virtually (via video or phone) for regular 1:1s, coaching, and escalations, with in-person support when they are on-site.

Key job responsibilities
- Create and distribute a daily End of Shift report detailing all inbound and outbound loads, including late arrival reasons and associated action items
- Communicate with the Outbound (OB) dock team and Network Operations Center (NOC) to provide delay reasons for late driver arrivals and departures
- Lead on-site yard safety by managing incident investigations and reviewing LQ360 defects
- Coordinate with multiple carriers and their contacts on site-related escalations, pickup and delivery issues, and weather-related disruptions to yard activities
- Develop and communicate daily load plans and any changes to the NOC, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders
- Monitor daily operations in partnership with Delivery Station (DS) teams, transportation peers, and carriers to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time
- Consolidate data from multiple sources to generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports that support business needs, uncover data integrity issues, and identify patterns for proactive mitigation
- Engage carrier drivers and delivery drivers in the yard as needed to maintain yard organisation, safety, and minimise delays
- Utilise internal systems such as SSP (Sortation Platform), FMC (Freight Management Console), and YMS (Yard Management System) to gather data for daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting

Additional Responsibilities
- Adhere to company rules and regulations, making safety a priority at all times
- Perform various functions within the yard, supporting site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain a fluid trailer pool
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and local regulations, including size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, and break periods
- Work at locations within the node on a needs basis to support the business — 38 hours per week with overtime as required
- Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, with or without reasonable accommodation

Basic Qualifications

- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Availability to work 38+ hours per week
- Experience working in warehouse, logistics, transportation, or distribution operations

Preferred Qualifications

- High school or equivalent
- Can lift up to 23 kgs, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Familiarity with yard management systems, freight management tools, or similar operational software
- Experience coordinating with multiple external partners or stakeholders
- Knowledge of load quality standards or freight safety compliance
- Experience analysing operational data and generating performance reports
