About this role
Two distinct multi-hospital veterinarian opportunities: Area Veterinary Lead & Medical Operations Partner
Licensed Veterinarian Opportunities: American Veterinary Group (AVG) is seeking experienced, collaborative licensed veterinarians to support two to four hospitals within a local market. Candidates may be considered for one of two distinct positions based on their desired schedule, clinical focus, and interest in multi-site leadership: Area Veterinary Lead or Medical Operations Partner.
Important: These are two separate positions within the same posting. The Area Veterinary Lead is a full-time leadership development role with one dedicated corporate day each week. The Medical Operations Partner is a flexible, primarily clinical role with limited non-clinical responsibilities.
Position 1: Area Veterinary Lead
A clear step into corporate medicine and multi-site veterinary leadership. The Area Veterinary Lead combines four clinical days each week with one dedicated corporate day, providing hands-on experience beyond direct patient care while remaining actively engaged in practice. This full-time role is designed for a veterinarian interested in building the experience needed for future regional medical leadership opportunities.
What You Will Do
- Provide high-quality clinical care across two to four designated hospitals.
- Use one dedicated corporate day each week for veterinarian interviews, onboarding, training, mentorship, regional projects, and other priorities outside direct patient care.
- Partner with the Regional Medical Director and hospital leaders to strengthen medical quality, doctor development, team effectiveness, and hospital performance.
- Identify trends and opportunities across the territory and support approved regional initiatives.
- Mentor veterinarians, including new graduates and doctors seeking additional clinical guidance.
- Support veterinarian recruiting, candidate evaluation, extern engagement, and new-hire integration.
- Promote consistent medical standards, documentation, safety, compliance, and client service across supported hospitals.
Schedule, Territory & Travel
- Full-time, five-day schedule consisting of four clinical days and one dedicated corporate day each week.
- Preferred coverage of two Saturdays per month. During a week in which Saturday is worked, one weekday will be replaced.
- Oversight and support of two to four hospitals generally located within a 45-to-60-minute commute from home.
- Standard mileage reimbursement and lodging will be provided for approved travel to hospitals outside the designated territory.
Compensation
- Competitive base salary
- Production compensation based on personal production during clinical days.
- Eligible for a $15,000 annual bonus for driving $1,000,000 in incremental revenue growth within the designated territory. Growth may be achieved through personal productivity as well as mentorship and development of DVMs, resulting in increased DVM productivity and overall area performance.
- Competitive benefits package.
Position 2: Medical Operations Partner
A flexible, primarily clinical multi-hospital role. The Medical Operations Partner is first and foremost a practicing veterinarian, with approximately 90% to 95% of time dedicated to patient care. This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian who wants broader impact across several hospitals while maintaining a strong clinical focus and a more flexible schedule.
What You Will Do
- Provide high-quality medical care and flexible clinical coverage across two to four local hospitals.
- Support Lead DVMs and hospital teams through collaboration, clinical guidance, case consultation, and hands-on assistance.
- Help promote consistency in medical quality, patient care, medical records, safety, compliance, and client service.
- Mentor and support veterinarians at various stages of development, including new graduate doctors when appropriate.
- Participate in limited, ad hoc non-clinical responsibilities such as interviews, onboarding, training, mentorship, approved projects, and regional initiatives.
- Share clinical observations and recommendations with Lead DVMs and regional medical leadership.
Schedule, Reporting & Travel
- Flexible schedule of 3 to 4.5 days per week, based on the selected arrangement and market needs.
- The role includes regular Saturday coverage, generally averaging two Saturdays per month, with scheduling coordinated to support hospital coverage needs.
- Reports to the Lead DVM at each supported hospital and interacts regularly with the Regional Medical Director.
- Regular local travel between assigned hospitals is required. Occasional additional company-paid travel may be required.
Compensation
- Competitive base salary
- Quarterly production compensation based on personal clinical production.
- Competitive benefits package.
