About this role
Overview

Are you passionate about software development and excited to help shape its future with AI? Join Microsoft as a Software Solution Engineer – Developer Productivity, where you’ll help enterprise customers modernize their software development lifecycle (SDLC), adopt Agentic SDLC practices, and build the next generation of intelligent applications.

Microsoft is transforming the developer experience by bringing AI into every stage of the SDLC. Bringing together GitHub, Visual Studio, VS Code, and Azure AI Foundry, you’ll help customers explore how developers and AI agents can work together across planning, coding, testing, deployment, and operations. Your focus will go beyond individual productivity: you’ll help engineering leaders rethink development workflows, integrate agentic capabilities into their toolchains, and pursue measurable improvements in delivery speed, software quality, and security.

As a trusted technical advisor, you’ll translate customer priorities into secure, scalable architectures and practical adoption roadmaps. Whether helping a global bank modernize DevSecOps, scaling GitHub Copilot across thousands of engineers, or designing workflows that combine developer expertise with AI agents, you’ll guide customers from traditional SDLC practices toward AI-native, agentic software delivery while maintaining human oversight, governance, and engineering rigor. You’ll also help teams use Microsoft’s developer and AI platforms to build, integrate, and operate intelligent applications.

Through hands-on proofs of concept, hackathons, code-with sessions, and architecture workshops, you’ll work directly with developers, engineering leaders, and platform teams to demonstrate technical value, influence platform decisions, and accelerate adoption. This role combines deep technical engagement with the opportunity to shape how enterprise engineering organizations build software in the AI era.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day, we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

Drive technical sales engagements with developers, engineering leaders, and technical decision-makers, using demos and proofs of concept (PoCs) to influence solution design, demonstrate value, and enable production deployments.

Lead hands-on engagements, including hackathons, code-with sessions, and architecture workshops, to accelerate adoption of Microsoft’s developer tools, AI capabilities, and cloud platforms.

Guide customers in modernizing their software development lifecycle (SDLC) and adopting Agentic SDLC practices, integrating AI-assisted coding and AI agents into planning, development, testing, code review, deployment, and operations.

Build trusted relationships with developers, platform leads, and AI decision-makers to co-design secure, scalable architectures for AI-powered applications and agentic development workflows, incorporating human oversight and enterprise governance.

Resolve technical blockers and objections, collaborating with product and engineering teams to communicate customer feedback, inform product improvements, and accelerate adoption.

Maintain deep technical expertise in GitHub, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, AI-assisted development tools, Azure AI Foundry and its SDKs, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-native development, including APIs, containers, and microservices.

Help customers define and evaluate success criteria for technical engagements, connecting improvements in developer productivity, software quality, security, and delivery speed to business outcomes.

Represent Microsoft through technical thought leadership, demonstrations, and knowledge sharing in developer communities and customer forums

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 8+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience; OR bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology OR equivalent experience.

Familiarity with DevOps and DevSecOps practices, including version control, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), automated testing, and security integration across the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code, and their application to developer productivity and software engineering workflows.

Understanding of Agentic SDLC concepts, including how developers and AI agents can collaborate across planning, coding, testing, code review, and deployment, with appropriate human oversight and governance.

Preferred :

6+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.

Certification in relevant technologies or disciplines (e.g., Office 365, Power BI, Azure Architect and Development exams, Cloud Platform Technologies, Information Security, Architecture).

GitHub Administration or GitHub Actions certifications highly preferred.

Experience with cloud-native development: APIs, containers, microservices, event-driven design.

Experience engaging enterprise development teams, including developers, architects, and technical decision makers.

Proficiency in modern languages like JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, C#, or Java, and frameworks such as .NET, Node.js, or React.

Hands-on expertise with GitHub, Visual Studio Code, CI/CD, DevOps, and platform engineering (e.g., observability, security, performance).

Practical experience integrating AI-assisted coding tools and AI agents into software development lifecycle (SDLC) workflows, with an understanding of Agentic SDLC practices, human oversight, and enterprise governance.

Experience building or integrating AI-powered applications and agentic solutions using Azure AI Foundry or comparable platforms.

Proven ability to lead hands-on technical engagements, including architecture workshops, hackathons, proofs of concept (PoCs), and minimum viable products (MVPs), and help customers progress from experimentation to production-scale adoption.

This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.

Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
