We are looking for humble geniuses who believe that engineering has the potential to make the impossible possible; innovators who are inspired by technology, asset management and operational excellence and are driven to deliver sustainable improvements in asset reliability, availability and performance.
As a team of remarkably diverse engineers, we recognise that what we are really engineering is a brighter future for us all. If you want to contribute to meaningful work and be part of an organisation that truly believes when you win, we all win, and when you fail, we all learn, then we're eager to hear from you.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Strategy & Reliability Engineer to lead the development, implementation, assurance and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies across the asset lifecycle. This role combines maintenance engineering, reliability analysis, asset management and lifecycle planning to ensure assets are maintained in a safe, reliable and cost-effective manner.
The role offers the opportunity to influence maintenance and investment decisions across complex, high-value assets while supporting operational performance and long-term business objectives within highly regulated industries. You must be a Sole UK National and qualify for Security Clearance.
Job Description
The Senior Maintenance Strategy & Reliability Engineer will provide technical leadership in maintenance engineering, reliability engineering, asset management and supportability. The role is responsible for developing risk-based maintenance strategies that maximise asset availability, optimise maintenance delivery and minimise whole-life costs.
Working across multidisciplinary engineering, operations, maintenance and project teams, the successful candidate will support the introduction of new assets, modifications to existing systems and long-term asset management planning. They will ensure maintainability, reliability and supportability considerations are embedded throughout the asset lifecycle while providing robust technical justification for maintenance and investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Strategy
- Develop and maintain maintenance strategies for operational and future assets.
- Lead maintenance optimisation activities to ensure maintenance programmes remain proportionate to operational risk.
- Develop preventive, predictive, condition-based and corrective maintenance approaches.
- Review maintenance intervals and task frequencies using operational and asset performance data.
- Define maintenance requirements and asset care plans to support operational objectives.
- Ensure maintenance strategies remain aligned with business needs, operational requirements and asset performance targets.
Reliability Engineering
- Lead Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) studies and maintenance task analyses.
- Conduct Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and other reliability assessments.
- Analyse asset performance, reliability and maintenance data to identify trends and recurring issues.

- Develop and implement reliability improvement initiatives.
- Provide recommendations to improve asset performance and reduce maintenance-related risk.
Asset Management & Lifecycle Support
- Support the development and implementation of asset management plans.
- Undertake asset criticality assessments to support maintenance prioritisation and investment decisions.
- Contribute to lifecycle cost analysis and long-term asset planning activities.
- Support asset acquisition, modification, refurbishment and life-extension programmes.
- Ensure maintenance and supportability requirements are considered during design, procurement and commissioning activities.
- Contribute to asset replacement strategies and investment planning decisions.
- Lead and support obsolescence management activities.
Governance & Assurance
- Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, technical guidance and engineering documentation.
- Monitor maintenance effectiveness through performance analysis and reporting.
- Develop and track maintenance performance indicators and reliability metrics.
- Support engineering assurance activities, audits, reviews and investigations.
- Ensure maintenance decisions are supported by robust technical justification and risk assessment.
- Participate in management of change processes relating to maintenance strategies and asset modifications.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, engineering and project teams.
- Provide specialist advice on maintenance strategy, reliability engineering and asset performance improvement.
- Support business cases and investment proposals through technical analysis and recommendations.
- Present maintenance and reliability findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and maintenance personnel where appropriate.
