About this role
Are you ready to unlock intelligence?
If you don’t think you meet all of the criteria below but are still interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box - we’re looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.
Build Kong’s India marketing engine from the ground up.
The opportunity
Kong is the AI connectivity company. We help engineering teams manage, secure, and scale the APIs and AI traffic that power modern businesses.
India represents a significant growth opportunity for Kong. We’re looking for a Field Marketing Manager to build our marketing presence in the market from the ground up—turning strategic priorities into programs that create demand, accelerate pipeline, and establish Kong as a leader in API and AI connectivity.
This is a builder’s role. There’s no established playbook, inherited marketing engine, or existing team to lean on. You’ll have the ownership to define the strategy, make the bets, build the programs, and prove what works.
You’ll partner closely with Sales, global marketing, and channel partners to bring Kong’s story to India’s enterprise technology leaders. You’ll be expected to think strategically, execute hands-on, and connect every marketing investment to measurable business outcomes.
Your mission: build a repeatable, scalable marketing engine that drives growth for Kong in India.
What you’ll do
Own the India marketing strategy
- Define the regional marketing strategy, priorities, and investment plan in alignment with India Sales and global marketing.
- Identify the industries, enterprise accounts, and buyer segments with the greatest growth potential.
- Turn market insights into focused programs that generate pipeline and accelerate revenue.
- Make deliberate choices about where to invest—and where not to.
Build and execute account-based marketing
- Partner with Sales to develop and prioritize target account lists, buying groups, and account-specific growth strategies.
- Design and execute ABM programs that engage decision-makers, build buying-group awareness, and create opportunities within strategic accounts.
- Coordinate campaigns, executive engagement, content, and field activities around account priorities.
- Measure account engagement, opportunity creation, pipeline influence, and progression through the sales cycle.
Create demand that converts
- Build integrated demand generation programs across digital, content, email, events, and partner channels.
- Translate Kong’s global messaging into locally relevant campaigns that resonate with India’s enterprise technology buyers.
- Work with Sales to define lead qualification, routing, follow-up SLAs, and conversion targets.
- Continuously optimize programs based on pipeline contribution, conversion rates, and cost efficiency.
Build the India events engine
- Develop an events strategy spanning executive roundtables, technical workshops, webinars, industry conferences, and flagship experiences.
- Create programs that bring together engineering leaders, enterprise decision-makers, developers, and strategic customers.
- Own event planning, audience acquisition, execution, follow-up, and performance measurement.
- Build a repeatable events model that prioritizes meaningful engagement and commercial outcomes over attendance numbers alone.
Turn partnerships into growth
- Work with channel and technology partners to develop joint demand generation and co-marketing programs.
- Equip partners with localized content, campaigns, event resources, and sales enablement.
- Identify opportunities to extend Kong’s reach through strategic ecosystems and industry relationships.
Establish Kong’s presence in India
- Adapt global brand campaigns and content for local market needs while maintaining consistency with Kong’s positioning.
- Build relationships with relevant industry communities, technology leaders, and enterprise decision-makers.
- Develop programs that strengthen awareness, credibility, and consideration among Kong’s target audiences.
Own the budget and prove impact
- Manage the India field marketing budget, allocating investment against clear business priorities.
- Establish dashboards and reporting that connect marketing activity to qualified pipeline, opportunity progression, and revenue outcomes.
- Share performance transparently, including what worked, what didn’t, and what should change.
- Build a continuous improvement culture grounded in data, experimentation, and accountability.
What you’ll bring
- A builder’s mindset. You’ve built a marketing function, regional program, or demand engine from scratch—not just operated an established one.
- B2B technology marketing experience. You understand how to market complex technology solutions to enterprise buyers and translate technical value into business impact.
- Strong ABM and demand generation expertise. You know how to prioritize accounts, engage buying groups, generate demand, and build programs that contribute to pipeline.
- A track record in high-growth environments. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, limited resources, and the need to move quickly.
- Cross-functional leadership. You can align Sales, global marketing, partners, and regional stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
- Events that deliver results. You know how to design experiences that build relationships, create opportunities, and justify the investment.
- Commercial and analytical rigor. You understand pipeline metrics, conversion rates, campaign performance, and marketing efficiency—and know how to act on the data.
- Deep knowledge of India’s enterprise technology landscape. You understand the accounts, industries, buying dynamics, and ecosystems that matter.
- Clear, adaptable communication. You can build credibility with engineers, executives, sales teams, and marketing leaders alike.
What will set you apart
- Experience marketing APIs, cloud infrastructure, developer platforms, cybersecurity, or AI technologies.
- Experience building channel marketing or partner-led demand generation programs.
- Established relationships across India’s enterprise technology, financial services, or global capability center (GCC) ecosystem.
- Experience working in a global, matrixed organization while building programs tailored to a regional market.
