About this role
Tesla stands for building a world of amazing abundance. Within a few years, revolutionary strategies and products were developed and successfully launched on a large scale. This is only possible through extraordinary speed, innovation and efficiency. To drive Tesla's incredible success story forward in Europe, the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg and Technical Engineering Center (BTEC) form the perfect basis for that. The most important pillar for this is our employees. Their passion, motivation and willingness to perform ensure that we achieve our goals. We are looking for you to continue and expand this success story together.
As Building and Operation Technician, you will have a crucial hands-on role in keeping the BTEC buildings, rooms and day-to-day operations in safe, functional and presentable condition. You will execute building repairs, furniture and space changes, painting and making-good works, as well as first-line operational tickets across offices, halls and common areas. Together with the Facility Management team, working closely with the Workplace Coordinator and reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be the on-site craftsperson for the building. This role is ideal for someone who is practical, service-oriented and comfortable juggling many small jobs in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Execute building and room tickets covering minor repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, doors, locks, hardware, and fittings, including painting, patching, and making-good after moves, leaks, or damage
- Assemble, relocate, and repair office and lab furniture and support space changes and moves
- Perform regular walkthroughs of offices, halls, common areas, and outdoor approaches; correct issues on the spot and escalate plant or specialist faults to the appropriate trade
- Maintain building fabric, access and escape routes, signage, and general operational equipment in a safe and presentable condition
- Support Workplace and Facility Management on setups, events, and contractor management for building-related works
- Record all work in the ticket/CMMS system, including photos, materials used, and follow-up needs, and raise material requests as needed
- Follow all occupational safety and site rules, working only within approved qualifications and certifications
- Completed vocational training as Hausmeister/facility specialist, carpenter, metalworker, or a comparable technical trade; equivalent hands-on building-operations experience is equally welcome
- Several years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, facility operations, or a similar multi-skill role
- Ability to carry out minor repairs independently (including doors, furniture, painting, and fittings) and to judge when a specialist trade must take over
- Forklift/industrial truck licence (FFZ) is a plus; willingness to obtain site-required certificates
- Experience with ticket systems or CMMS and MS Office (Outlook, Excel)
- Fluent German and good English
- Willingness to work flexible hours when operations, moves, or events require it
