About this role
Buyer & Planner
About the role
We're looking for a highly analytical Buyer & Planner to join our growing team at Nordic Knots. This is a key commercial and analytical role at the intersection of planning, buying and operations, making sure we own the right stock, in the right quantities, in the right place, at the right time to support our rapid growth.
You will own the numbers behind our inventory: what we buy, when we buy it, where it is available, and how hard it works. As we scale across markets and channels, those decisions have a direct impact on availability, margin and cash flow.
Your key responsibilities
1. Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Build and maintain data-driven demand forecasts across categories, markets and channels.
- Track sales, stock levels and sell-through to anticipate reorders and spot trends early.
- Set and maintain safety stock, reorder points and lead-time parameters.
- Develop the forecasting logic itself, improving accuracy, granularity and the assumptions behind it.
2. Buying & Purchase Planning
- Translate forecasts into purchase plans and place orders in close collaboration with Production.
- Balance order quantities against MOQs, lead times, production capacity and working capital.
- Maintain the buying calendar so reorders and new launches land on plan.
3. Stock Allocation & Inventory Optimization
- Make sure stock is available in the right place at the right time, across markets and channels.
- Own allocation to our stores and to wholesale, balancing commitments against available inventory and upcoming deliveries.
- Prioritize when stock is tight, and decide what goes where when demand and supply do not match the plan.
- Monitor and optimize inventory health: stock turn, weeks of cover, excess and aged stock, and stock-out risk on core articles.
- Drive actions on slow-moving and excess inventory together with the commercial team.
4. Analysis & Reporting
- Build and maintain spreadsheets, models and dashboards behind forecasting, allocation and performance tracking.
- Report on key KPIs such as sell-through, stock turn, inventory health, service level and margin.
- Analyze category and assortment performance, and turn the findings into buying and assortment recommendations.
- Act as the internal data expert for planning, keeping decisions grounded in numbers and facts.
You will work closely with Production, Commercial, Logistics and Management, and contribute to the seasonal commercial plan with analysis and demand projections.
Who you are
- 5+ years' experience in demand planning, merchandise planning, buying or allocation, preferably in fashion, home or design.
- Excellent analytical skills and a great sense for numbers, you build the analysis yourself, not only read it.
- Flawless Excel/Google Sheets skills, complex formulas, pivots and data models.
- Experience with allocation and replenishment across channels such as retail, wholesale and e-commerce is a strong advantage.
- Experience with Madden Analytics is a huge plus
- Structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing many moving parts.
- Commercially minded, with a clear understanding of how stock decisions impact margin and cash flow.
- Confident making a recommendation under uncertainty, and comfortable being held to it.
- A collaborative communicator who enjoys working cross-functionally with creative and operational teams.
- Fluent in English.
