WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

SimCorp is on a journey to mature its Internal Controls System across all key risk areas, in line with group-level governance requirements. This role is the senior execution owner of that journey — leading implementation, embedding control ownership across business functions, and leading the shift toward AI-enabled assurance.

This is a change role as much as a controls role. You will work across a complex, international organization to make internal controls meaningful and owned - shifting the perception from compliance obligation to genuine business enablement. You thrive in environments that are still being shaped, and you bring the seniority and credibility to take others with you.

We are looking for someone who combines senior stakeholder credibility with a self-driving, action-oriented mindset - someone who can shape the agenda, manage their own workload, and genuinely enjoys delivering results.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

SimCorp's financial reporting controls environment is undergoing active strengthening and expansion. This role leads defined parts of the second-line monitoring, testing, and oversight cycle and acts as a senior day-to-day partner to Finance and Tax control owners across the organisation.

This is not a maintenance role. You will bring the professional judgment to assess whether financial reporting controls within your areas are fit for purpose, provide constructive challenge, and drive first-line owners to implement improvements where they are not. You will need the stakeholder skills to bring Finance and Tax along on that journey while maintaining clear accountability for control design, execution, evidence, and remediation in the first line. You understand that effective financial reporting controls are a foundation for trust, and you know how to make that case.

We are looking for someone who combines strong financial reporting controls expertise and senior stakeholder credibility with a well-organized, hands-on mindset — someone who can work with strong self-management, maintain momentum across competing priorities, hold the line on standards, and genuinely enjoys following through.

Key RESPONSIBILITIES

Controls Review & Implementation

- Lead defined parts of the second-line financial reporting controls monitoring and testing cycle across SimCorp's global operations, working with control owners across financial and non-financial reporting domains while preserving clear first- and second-line accountabilities.
- Assess the adequacy of financial reporting controls within the relevant reporting domains, escalating significant or environment-wide gaps to senior management.
- Provide constructive challenge and methodological guidance where control gaps or documentation issues are identified, and lead first-line owners to implement required improvements and remediation, and monitor agreed actions through to timely completion.
- Lead control design quality assurance and walkthroughs with Finance and Tax control owners.
- Provide controls methodology and quality assurance support for external audit activities, while Finance and Tax control owners remain responsible for responding to evidence requests, explaining control execution, and participating in walkthroughs.

Controls Monitoring & Testing Cycle

- Coordinate second-line testing activities and evidence review, maintain oversight of identified deficiencies, monitor first-line follow-up, and assess whether control documentation meets methodology and quality expectations.
- Assess and risk-rate identified control deficiencies, communicate findings to the relevant control owners, and escalate higher-risk or unresolved issues to senior management.
- Prepare reporting and submission pack input for group governance and supervisory requirements.

Stakeholder Partnering

- Act as the day-to-day senior partner for Finance and Tax control owners.
- Support new control onboarding by providing methodology guidance and quality assurance, monitor the ongoing upkeep of control documentation, and build control owner capability while preserving first-line accountability.
- Navigate competing priorities across Finance, Tax, Risk, and other stakeholders in a constructive and pragmatic way.
- Provide guidance to less experienced colleagues on controls methodology, testing quality, documentation, and stakeholder follow-up, without a formal reporting line.

AI & Innovation

- Apply AI tools for testing support, evidence summarization, and scaling controls coverage across entities and periods.
- Use AI and digital tools to improve the efficiency and reach of testing and evidence review.
- Ensure AI-assisted outputs are reviewed with professional judgment before being used in reporting or decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent professional qualification
- Big Four, external audit, or in-house finance controls background
- Solid experience in financial reporting controls, controls over financial reporting, or statutory audit
- Solid knowledge of accounting and financial reporting processes and standards
- Experience operating in a complex, international, multi-stakeholder environment
- Knowledge of relevant frameworks and standards (COSO or equivalent)

Skills & Capabilities

- Professional seniority and judgment to assess controls on their own within defined reporting domains and escalate broader control environment issues appropriately.
- AI-skilled: comfortable using digital testing and evidence review tools, with a drive to increase adoption further
- Solid execution discipline: able to manage a structured testing cycle across multiple stakeholders
- Effective communicator across cultures and functions — able to make financial reporting controls accessible and actionable for non-specialists
- Self-managing and detail-oriented, able to manage defined parts of the second-line testing and oversight cycle on their own, stay close to evidence and documentation quality, and monitor agreed first-line actions through to completion.
- Energized by improvement journeys and comfortable working in environments that are still maturing
- Resilient in the face of resistance — able to hold the line on standards while maintaining constructive relationships
- Solid written and verbal communication in English; experience in international organizations
- Proficient in MS Office experience with GRC and controls monitoring tooling an advantage
