Painter / Sandblaster

The Mundy Companies, a leader in the industrial maintenance, services, and construction fields, is currently hiring the following position for a 3 week project in Texas City, Texas area:

PAINTER / SANDBLASTER
6 x 10 + OT as needed
3 WEEKS
MUST BE WILLING TO HELP OTHER CRAFTS.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of three (3) years of continuous and current experience as an Industrial Painter in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. Industrial Painters prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting, and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush, and rollers.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

- Reads work order or receives instructions verbally

- Prepares surface using method appropriate for surface to be painted

- May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface

- Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color, according to specifications using paddle or mechanical mixer

- May erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level

- Apply paint to surface using a spray gun, brush, or roller

- Clean Surfaces of metal or hard compositions to remove sca;e, sand, paint, grease, tar or dirt to prepare specified finish using abrasive blasting equipment

- shovel or pour abrasive of specified grade into machine hopper

- mask specified areas of object to protect from sandblasting

- regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle

- direct blast or flow of abrasive ve laden air, gas, or liquid over surface to be blasted

The successful candidate will maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all time. This positions requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a safe, efficient manner. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is also required. All qualified applicants must be craft certified or possess the ability to pass a craft test, as well as the ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen and other qualifications as required.
