About Hypervision Surgical
Hypervision Surgical (“Hypervision”) is a spin-out from King’s College London, founded by clinicians and experts in medical imaging and artificial intelligence. Using safe light alone, our mission is to equip surgeons with real-time, AI-driven tissue intelligence to improve precision and patient safety.
We are pioneering the world’s first regulatory-cleared real-time intraoperative spectral imaging platform, combining on-chip spectral sensing with high-speed AI analytics at over 60 frames per second. Seamlessly integrating into existing surgical vision systems, our technology transforms standard cameras into intelligent, data-rich tools, revealing anatomical, physiological, and pathological information beyond human vision.
Certified for both open and minimally invasive surgery, our platform achieved UKCA certification and FDA clearance in 2025 under a newly established AI/ML product code, and was admitted into the FDA’s Safer Technology Program. With multi-centre clinical evaluations underway and strategic partnerships with world-leading technology and surgical manufactures, including imec and ZEISS Ventures, Hypervision is shaping the future of data-driven surgery.

role
About the role
We have a regulatory-cleared surgical imaging technology that surgeons find compelling. We now need to turn it into a product that hospitals buy and use routinely.
As our first Product Manager:
- You will build the product process that turns customer insight into prioritised work for our development team and own the product roadmap for our surgical display and cloud platform.
- You will sharpen which users, procedures and clinical problems we focus on first, shape what the product needs to look like to win there, and lead how we position it commercially.
- You will spend real time in operating rooms with surgeons and OR teams, and turn what you see into clear requirements, prototypes and decisions. Internally, you will work closely with Technology, Cloud Platform, Commercial, Compliance and Clinical Development.
- This is a founding role. You will build product management at Hypervision from the ground up.
- It will involve travel to customer sites across the UK, Europe and the United States.
What you'll do
In your first year, your priorities are to build the product process with our development team, shape the product, and set the roadmap. Everything below supports those three.
Build the product process
- Set up a lightweight product process from discovery through to delivery, suited to a regulated medical device company.
- Own a prioritised backlog for the software team, and work with its lead on sprint planning, scope and trade-offs.
- Write clear user stories and requirements with acceptance criteria, so the team knows what to build and why.
- Review what is delivered against user needs and close the loop with users and stakeholders.
Shape the product
- Spend time in operating rooms to understand surgical workflows, where our technology adds value, and where it gets in the way.
- Separate genuine adoption drivers from clinical curiosity, and deepen our understanding of users, buyers and what drives their decisions.
- Test willingness to pay and build an evidence base of clinical value and workflow impact across sites.
Own the roadmap and requirements
- Own the product roadmap for the surgical display and cloud platform, agreed with leadership.
- Turn real-world findings into clear user needs and product requirements and prioritise them based on the strength of the evidence.
- Keep the roadmap aligned with regulatory and clinical plans, including flagging changes that may need a new submission.
Lead UX and design
- Map clinical workflows and turn them into user journeys, wireframes and interactive prototypes (e.g. in Figma).
- Test designs early and often with surgeons and OR teams and iterate quickly.
- Set the UX direction for the surgical display and cloud platform, and work with external designers on visual UI design where needed.
Shape positioning
- Own product positioning, target customers and the value proposition.
- Work with Commercial on messaging and provide input to pricing, keeping all claims within our cleared intended use and indications.
- Build strong relationships with early-adopter surgeons and key opinion leaders.
Work across the business
- Share field and usability insights with Clinical Development, who own clinical studies and post-market clinical follow-up.
- Make sure field observations that may be complaints, adverse events or use errors are escalated promptly into our quality management system.
Qualifications
About you: You have taken a product from early stage to market before, and you want to do it again with technology that could change surgery. You are at home in ambiguity, comfortable challenging assumptions, and able to make a clear recommendation when the evidence is incomplete. You are as comfortable in an operating theatre as in a roadmap review.
You bring:
- 5+ years in product management, ideally in MedTech, health tech or another regulated industry.
- Experience taking a product from prototype or early stage to market (0-to-1).
- Comfort working in clinical environments, including operating theatres, and building credibility with surgeons.
- Strong UX skills: workflow mapping, usability studies, wireframes and interactive prototypes.
- A track record of turning qualitative user insight into requirements and roadmap decisions.
- Experience running a product backlog with software teams, and influencing across engineering, clinical and commercial teams.
- An understanding of what working in a regulated environment involves, including when to escalate safety issues.
Desirable:
- Time spent in surgical or interventional environments, working directly with surgeons and OR teams.
- Working knowledge of medical device development (e.g. ISO 13485, design controls).
- Visual UI design skills.
- Experience with usability engineering or human factors (IEC 62366-1).
- Experience with surgical imaging, endoscopy, robotics or AI-enabled clinical products.
- Experience with cloud-enabled or software products in hospitals, including IT and procurement processes.
- Experience with pricing or willingness-to-pay research in healthcare.
Bonus points if you bring a special talent, interest, language, or unique life experience to the team.
