About this role

Description

The Opportunity

Eustis Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented CAD / Geotechnical Technician to turn field and engineering data into clear, accurate deliverables. This role supports geotechnical engineers and project teams by preparing boring logs, subsurface profiles, site plans, figures, and report exhibits for infrastructure, coastal, transportation, water, wastewater, and private-development projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a technical production environment, can manage multiple assignments, and takes pride in organized, quality-controlled work.

What You Will Do

- Prepare and revise CAD drawings, site plans, boring location plans, subsurface profiles, cross-sections, details, and report figures from engineer markups, survey information, field notes, and other source data.
- Create and maintain geotechnical boring logs and related exploration records using the company’s current logging and data-management tools.
- Compile laboratory and field data for inclusion in engineering reports, proposals, and construction documents.
- Coordinate with engineers, geologists, field personnel, laboratory staff, and project managers to resolve missing or inconsistent information.
- Apply company drafting standards, file-naming conventions, templates, and document-control procedures.
- Perform self-checks for dimensions, elevations, labels, references, scales, and consistency before submitting work for review.
- Incorporate review comments accurately and maintain orderly project files and drawing records.
- Assist with PDF markups, document assembly, scanning, plotting, and other technical-production tasks as needed.
- Support continuous improvement of CAD standards, templates, symbols, and production workflows.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position primarily involves computer-based work in an office environment, including extended periods of sitting and repetitive keyboard and mouse use. The employee may occasionally need to stand, walk, reach, and lift or move items weighing up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of the position.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Eustis Engineering is an equal opportunity employer. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, merit, and business needs. Reasonable accommodations are available to qualified applicants and employees with disabilities.

Requirements

What You Bring

- Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent training in drafting, civil engineering technology, CAD, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Experience with Civil 3D is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, survey data, technical markups, and written instructions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and PDF markup tools.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and quality control.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and ask questions early when information is incomplete.

Helpful, but Not Required

- Experience preparing civil, geotechnical, transportation, coastal, or water-resources drawings and figures.
- Experience with geotechnical data-management or boring-log software, including gINT, OpenGround, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with MicroStation, GIS, Bluebeam Revu, or other engineering-production tools.
- Understanding of coordinate systems, topographic mapping, survey basemaps, and subsurface exploration terminology.
- Experience working in an engineering consulting environment.

What Success Looks Like

You consistently produce accurate, professional work that is easy for engineers to review and ready to incorporate into project deliverables. You communicate schedule or data issues early, maintain organized files, and steadily expand your ability to complete assignments with greater independence.
