Job Title: Senior Electrical Estimator Data Center Focus Job Description
This Senior Electrical Estimator role focuses on leading and executing estimating efforts for large-scale data center electrical projects, including hyperscale campuses, mission-critical facilities, and phased expansion programs. The position develops detailed and conceptual estimates for complex electrical power distribution systems, supports fast-track data center delivery strategies, and provides clear, data-driven proposals and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders. The role combines deep technical expertise in data center electrical systems with strong commercial judgment, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple large bids in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead estimating efforts for large-scale data center electrical projects, including hyperscale campuses, mission-critical facilities, and multi-phase expansion programs.
- Develop detailed estimates for electrical power distribution systems, ensuring accuracy in labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Utilize Accubid (Trimble Accubid) as the primary estimating tool for electrical takeoff, pricing, and database management, maintaining consistent and reliable cost data.
- Review project requirements and coordinate closely with internal teams to produce comprehensive estimates aligned with data center execution strategies and fast-track schedules.
- Oversee bid development across multiple stakeholders to ensure complete coverage of mission-critical scope, redundancy requirements, and uptime-driven constraints.
- Prepare, present, and explain proposals to clients, clearly communicating data center constructability, sequencing, and key cost drivers.
- Develop conceptual through detailed budgets for hyperscale and colocation data center developments, supporting both early-stage planning and final bid submissions.
- Manage subcontractor and vendor engagement specific to data center electrical systems, including long-lead equipment procurement and coordination.
- Mentor estimating staff on data center means and methods, including energized work constraints, phased turnover, and critical path sequencing for live/critical environments.
- Maintain cost databases, unit pricing, and benchmarks within Accubid and related estimating systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency across repeatable data center models.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, subcontractors, and clients within the data center ecosystem to support competitive and reliable bids.
- Conduct cost analysis, apply estimating logic, and perform constructability evaluations for complex electrical systems to identify opportunities and risks.
- Collaborate with project management and preconstruction teams to align estimates with overall project strategies and commercial objectives.
- Manage multiple large-scale data center bids simultaneously, prioritizing workload and maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Identify, assess, and communicate commercial and delivery risks in data center projects, contributing to robust risk management and mitigation strategies.
Essential Skills
- 1015 years of data center estimating experience, with strong, demonstrable experience on large hyperscale data center projects.
- 15+ years of electrical estimating and/or project management experience in industrial electrical construction.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of education and electrical construction experience.
- Deep understanding of data center electrical systems, including power distribution, redundancy, and mission-critical requirements.
- Experience with phased construction in live and critical environments, including energized work constraints and phased turnover.
- Proficiency with Accubid (Trimble Accubid) estimating software for electrical takeoff, pricing, and database management.
- Strong capability in cost analysis, estimating logic, and constructability evaluation for complex electrical systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for analysis, documentation, and presentation of estimates.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical data center solutions and estimates to executive stakeholders.
- Proven leadership experience in fast-paced mission-critical and data center environments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple large-scale data center bids simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and strong commercial judgment, with the ability to anticipate and articulate risks in data center delivery models.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
