About this role
We’re looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to develop accurate, competitive bids for commercial interior construction projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on estimating experience with drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, commercial flooring, and related interior finishes. This role covers the full estimating process, from reviewing bid documents and calculating project costs to evaluating subcontractor pricing and preparing proposals for submission.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, flooring, and related interior construction scopes.
- Analyze architectural plans, specifications, contracts, addenda, and bid packages to establish project requirements and determine accurate pricing.
- Conduct comprehensive quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project expenses.
- Build competitive estimates using project specifications, current market pricing, historical cost information, and anticipated labor requirements.
- Request and evaluate subcontractor, supplier, and vendor proposals, comparing pricing and verifying scope coverage through bid leveling.
- Identify missing work, scope overlaps, exclusions, constructability concerns, and potential cost exposures before submitting bids.
- Prepare complete bid proposals with itemized pricing, scope descriptions, assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, and alternate options.
- Evaluate value-engineering opportunities and recommend cost-effective alternatives that meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, general contractors, and clients to resolve scope questions and confirm pricing.
- Maintain organized estimating records, historical cost databases, vendor information, bid tracking logs, and supporting project documentation.
- Track labor rates, material prices, subcontractor quotes, and market trends to improve estimating accuracy.
- Prepare preliminary budgets, negotiated bids, change-order estimates, and pricing revisions as project requirements evolve.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, jobsite visits, post-bid reviews, and scope clarification discussions as needed.
- Provide detailed estimates, cost breakdowns, budget assumptions, and scope documentation during project handoff.
- Manage multiple bids simultaneously and ensure all proposals are complete, accurate, and submitted within required deadlines.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating workflows, refine pricing strategies, and strengthen overall bid accuracy.
