Role Overview

The Marketing Design Associate brings Filene’s ideas, research and brand to life through thoughtful, engaging visual design. As part of the Marketing team, this role creates high-quality digital and print assets that make complex ideas clear, accessible and compelling for credit union leaders and the broader financial services industry.

Working across teams and channels, the Marketing Design Associate supports the development of publications, presentations, campaigns, events, social media, website experiences and other branded materials, with a growing focus on digital and UX/UI design.

This role is ideal for an early-career designer who combines strong creative instincts with attention to detail, curiosity and a willingness to learn. Success in this role means producing consistently strong work, managing multiple assignments and deadlines, collaborating effectively with colleagues and partners, and continuously looking for ways to strengthen how Filene shows up across its brand and digital experiences.

Role Responsibilities

Creative Design & Digital Storytelling

- Create compelling visual assets across digital and print channels, including research publications, presentations, marketing campaigns, social media, email, web, events, and other branded materials.
- Translate complex research, incubation, and strategic concepts into clear, engaging visual communications for executive and industry audiences.
- Create and adapt presentation materials and templates that help Filene staff communicate ideas clearly and consistently.
- Support the visual experience of Filene events through presentation graphics, signage, environmental materials, digital assets, and other event collateral.
- Apply and uphold Filene’s brand standards while contributing ideas that continually strengthen and evolve the brand experience.

Digital & Web Experience

- Support the design and continuous improvement of Filene’s website experience, including page layouts, landing pages, user flows, visual hierarchy, and other UX/UI needs in partnership with the Sr. Marketing Design Manager, Marketing, and technology partners.
- Create website and digital design concepts in Figma and translate approved designs into clear specifications and assets for development partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve Filene’s digital experience, website usability, visual storytelling, and the ways research and insights are packaged for greater reach and engagement.

Marketing & Brand Execution

- Support the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, including digital graphics, campaign assets, templates, and promotional materials.
- Partner closely with the Sr. Marketing Design Manager to execute and evolve Filene’s visual brand across web, digital, and print experiences.
- Collaborate with Marketing colleagues and cross-functional partners to understand project objectives, audiences, and desired outcomes and translate them into effective creative solutions.

Creative Operations

- Manage multiple design assignments simultaneously, communicating progress, identifying potential roadblocks, adjusting priorities as needed, and meeting established deadlines.
- Prepare production-ready files and coordinate with printers, vendors, contractors, and other external partners to ensure high-quality execution.
- Maintain organized design files, templates, and creative assets to support efficient collaboration, reuse, and brand consistency.
- Stay current on emerging design practices, tools, and technologies and recommend opportunities to improve creative quality and production efficiency.
- Incorporate feedback thoughtfully and continue developing design capabilities through coaching, collaboration, and experimentation.

General & Administrative

- Model Filene Credo and play a key role in maintaining the culture of the organization through personal and cross-functional accountabilities.
- Actively support the achievement of Filene's strategic objectives, plan, budget, and metrics in a manner consistent with Filene’s mission, values, and brand.
- Provide extraordinary service to Filene’s staff, members, and stakeholders.
- Understand and engage in Filene’s complete body of work including research and advisory programs to connect member needs with Filene solutions that can best meet those needs.
- Prioritize and manage workload across several projects simultaneously, demonstrating the ability to shift gears when necessary to meet key deadlines.

The above statement of duties is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties will be assigned as needed.

Role Requirements

- Associate’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, digital media or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
- 1+ years of professional, internship, freelance or comparable design experience.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong visual design fundamentals, creativity, and the ability to communicate ideas effectively across different formats.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Experience designing presentations and working within Microsoft PowerPoint or similar presentation software.
- Familiarity with digital and responsive design principles, including website UX/UI, landing pages, email and social media.
- Strong typography, layout, composition, and information design skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to translate complex or content-rich information into clear, engaging visual communications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, vendors and other partners.
- Comfortable receiving feedback, asking questions and iterating on creative work.
- Curious, adaptable, and eager to develop new skills, explore emerging technologies and experiment with new approaches to design.
- Experience with motion graphics, animation, video production, data visualization, Figma or other digital design tools is a plus but not required.
- Intellectually curious about credit unions and their members. Enjoy working in a “think tank” environment where ideation, continually embracing change, being restless with the status quo and seeking reinvention is part of the culture. A passion for purpose and precision – including the details.
- Travel expected up to 5% to fulfill the requirements of the role.
