About this role

About CookUnity:

Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, it has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 50 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.

Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.

If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.

About the team

The Supply Chain team owns all raw materials, packaging & all kinds of items (office/cleaning & kitchen) supply and its distribution to the chefs/fulfillment. It’s a high-impact role with the ability to communicate constantly between all different areas of CookUnity. Our customers use our digital experience weekly to find their favorite meals from our 300+ menu items, and the Supply Chain team is responsible for making that easy and smooth for the operation.

The role:

We are looking for an Ingredient Sourcing Analyst to connect CookUnity’s culinary needs with operationally sound sourcing decisions. You will evaluate ingredient and supplier options, lead sourcing projects, coordinate testing and rollout, and help ensure ingredients are high-quality, cost-effective, and available when needed.

You will partner with category leads on assigned sourcing projects and selected subcategories, with priorities determined by category needs. The role combines supplier evaluation, product-quality improvement, ingredient testing, and disciplined sourcing execution.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain secondary-sourcing coverage for assigned ingredients, validating true like-for-like substitutes, supplier availability, on-hand quantities, and lead times.

- Contribute to category and supplier strategy through priority sourcing projects, subcategory analyses, Request For Proposal (RFP) processes, supplier identification, pricing, contracting, and rollout.

- Lead assigned RFPs end-to-end and support cross-category projects from industry analysis and sample coordination through Culinary testing, recommendation, and implementation.

- Develop supplier strategies for ingredients with quality concerns, inconsistent specifications, or limited supplier coverage; evaluate options to improve product quality and supply continuity.

- Coordinate bench samples and market-level pilots with Culinary and other stakeholders; document results and recommendations before network rollout.

- Coordinate approved ingredient and vendor setup across Wholesaleware, Parsley, Supplier Service, and NetSuite, ensuring accurate information and clear operational handoffs.

- Establish a dependable forecast cadence with suppliers and distribution partners; monitor on-hand quantities, lead times, and potential supply risks.

- Respond to new-ingredient and meal-related requests, communicate status, and route work through the appropriate intake and stage-gate process.

- Manage credit-memo resolution and reduce preventable or repeat issues; support workflow automation and the planned handoff of transactional ownership to ISC or the appropriate operational team.

- Improve sourcing processes, handoffs, and operating discipline by documenting learnings and standardizing repeatable workflows

Qualifications

- Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.

- Experience or strong interest in ingredient sourcing, procurement, quality, or food industry operations.

- Solid understanding of food ingredients specifications and food standards compliance (or willingness to develop this expertise).

- Advanced English level (written and spoken).

- Excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.

- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to evaluate ingredient specs and supplier information.

- Comfortable working cross-functionally and managing multiple sourcing requests.

- Highly organized, proactive and able to follow structured processes. High autonomy and ownership on goals to achieve.

Preferred requirements (but not mandatory)

- Background or exposure to culinary-driven environments (meal kits, foodservice, hospitality, CPG).

- Knowledge of regional sourcing, clean-label ingredients, or sustainability-oriented procurement practices.

- Understanding of ingredient regulatory constraints , spec sheets, and documentation.

- Experience using ChatGPT and/or Claude to automate processes and optimize workflows.

- Experience with Monday.com (http://monday.com) or equivalent project management tools.

A quick note for all candidates
We’ve recently seen an increase in recruitment scams across the industry, and we want to make sure you (and your data) stay safe while applying to CookUnity. We also want you to know that we take this seriously — sometimes, as part of our process, we may ask for a brief “proof of humanity” to confirm that we’re connecting with a real person, not an impersonator. Here are a few tips to help you protect yourself and know what to expect from us:

- Apply only through our official channels. All open roles are listed on our official careers page: careers.cookunity.com (http://careers.cookunity.com/)

- Our recruiters are real people — and easy to verify. You can always find them on LinkedIn with verified profiles. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out to us on our official LinkedIn Company Page (https://www.linkedin.com/company/cookunity/).

- We only communicate through official CookUnity channels. That means emails ending in @cookunity.com and interviews held through official company platforms (Google Meet or Zoom) — never WhatsApp, Telegram, or SMS.

- We’ll never ask for payment or personal financial details. If anyone does, please don’t share any information and let us know right away.

If something ever feels off or you’re unsure about a message, we’d much rather you double-check with us. You can always contact us directly through any of our social media channels.
