About this role
UMB builds secure, practical, enterprise-scale AI capabilities that improve how employees work, how customers are served, and how decisions are made. The AI team drives automation, data-informed decision-making, and software modernization through machine learning, natural language processing, predictive analytics, generative AI, and cloud technologies.
As an AI Solutions Administrator , you will help design, build, integrate, and operate UMB’s enterprise AI capabilities. You will work hands-on with Glean, AWS, automation technologies, enterprise data sources, and business stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable AI solutions. You will create AI agents and reusable skills, automate business workflows, configure integrations, monitor platform performance, administer access, and troubleshoot complex technical issues. You will also help establish the procedures, documentation, and operational controls needed to use AI responsibly in a regulated financial services environment. This is an early-career technical role for someone who enjoys combining AI, cloud technology, scripting, systems integration, and business problem-solving. It is a hands-on platform-building and engineering opportunity-not a traditional help-desk position. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership.
This role is hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote) at the UMB Technology & Operations Center located in downtown Kansas City, MO.
How you will spend your time:
- Design, configure, test, deploy, monitor, and improve AI agents, reusable skills, and automated workflows based on business requirements.
- Translate business needs into technically sound AI solutions, including agent instructions, prompt logic, data connections, workflow steps, validation criteria, and operational controls.
- Build and maintain integrations between Glean and approved enterprise systems and data sources using connectors, APIs, webhooks, and common integration patterns.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual or repetitive business processes and help turn those opportunities into secure, scalable solutions.
- Apply scripting, configuration, and automation skills to build or maintain AI capabilities and platform administration processes.
- Monitor Glean platform consumption, usage, reliability, performance, and adoption metrics; identify trends, capacity needs, risks, and optimization opportunities.
- Administer user accounts, roles, permissions, access controls, and access-related documentation in accordance with established security procedures.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for platform issues, connectors, access requests, configuration problems, data issues, and performance concerns.
- Diagnose issues across configuration, integration, identity, data, workflow, and platform layers; research alternatives and document the resolution.
- Monitor platform reliability and apply established practices for scalability, availability, maintainability, logging, and observability.
- Collaborate with IT, data teams, business stakeholders, security partners, and end users to promote adoption and effective use of enterprise AI capabilities.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for configurations, operating procedures, troubleshooting steps, changes, known issues, and support processes.
- Help ensure that platform configurations and administrative processes align with security, governance, regulatory, audit, and data-protection requirements applicable to financial services.
- Stay current with Glean platform updates, AWS capabilities, enterprise AI administration practices, responsible AI principles, and relevant security considerations.
- Support additional AI, cloud, automation, and modernization initiatives assigned by IT leadership.

- Familiarity with AWS cloud concepts and services, such as IAM, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, networking, monitoring, and security services.
- Monitored, interpreted, and communicated platform consumption, usage, adoption, reliability, and performance metrics.
- Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose configuration, integration, access, data, workflow, and performance issues.
- Independently researched technical problems, evaluate alternatives, implement solutions, and document results.
- Communicated effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users, including the ability to explain technical concepts and AI capabilities clearly.
- Demonstrated hands-on technical ability with AI platforms, automation, application configuration, systems integration, scripting, cloud technologies, or related projects.
- Handled sensitive enterprise information responsibly and follow established security, privacy, and governance procedures.
