About this role
company
Who we are.
Arbor Biotechnologies, a clinical stage, next-generation gene editing company based in Cambridge, MA, is advancing a portfolio of first-in-class genomic medicines addressing serious diseases for which there are no existing functional cures, with a CNS pipeline initially prioritizing multiple ALS targets and a co-developed, clinical program, ABO-101, for the treatment of primary hyperoxaluria type 1. The company’s unique breadth of gene editing technologies goes beyond the limitations of early editing approaches to unlock access to new gene targets and expand the therapeutic reach of genomic medicines. Who thrives here.
You're driven by purpose and curious by nature. You take ownership, speak up, and stay steady when things get hard. You'd rather the team win than get the credit. If that sounds like you, keep reading.
role
Why this role matters.
Our gene editing programs for neurodegenerative diseases can only advance if in vivo studies show that an editor works in a living animal. This role carries those studies from dosing through tissue collection to the molecular readout. The data you generate feeds the preclinical and IND-enabling work that decides whether a program moves forward.
This role reports to the Senior Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology. It is on-site in Cambridge, typically 4–5 days per week.
What you'll own.
- Run in vivo pharmacology studies in rodents, including dosing, monitoring, clinical observations, blood collection, tissue harvest, and necropsy.
- Set up and schedule studies, and coordinate between the laboratory and the animal facility.
- Process tissues and biological samples, and isolate DNA, RNA, and protein for molecular, biochemical, and pharmacodynamic analysis.
- Run assays such as qPCR/ddPCR, RT-qPCR, Western blot, Simple Western/Jess, ELISA, or RNAscope.
- Analyze, interpret, and graph study and assay data in GraphPad Prism and other analysis tools.
- Present findings, study progress, and data summaries to project teams and cross-functional collaborators.
- Keep study records, sample inventories, and protocols accurate and current.
What you've done.
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacology, biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience, or a master’s degree with 1+ year.
- Has run in vivo rodent studies hands-on, including dosing, monitoring, blood collection, tissue harvest, and necropsy.
- Has dosed rodents by intravenous, retro-orbital, or comparable routes.
- Has processed animal tissues and biological samples for molecular, biochemical, or pharmacodynamic endpoints.
- Has run molecular and biochemical assays such as qPCR/ddPCR, RT-qPCR, Western blot, Simple Western/Jess, ELISA, or RNAscope; flow cytometry experience preferred.
- Has managed samples and timelines across more than one study at a time.
- Has supported IND-enabling studies (preferred).
What you'll get .
