Do you love pets, enjoy helping customers, and take pride in keeping things organized? Ithaca Ace Hardware is looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Pet Department Sales Associate to join our team!

In this role, you'll help support our pet supplies, wild bird food, and outerwear departments by assisting customers, maintaining merchandise displays, and ensuring products are stocked and ready for customers.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, has an interest in pet and outdoor products, and takes pride in being part of a team that delivers great customer service every day.

What You'll Do

- Provide Excellent Customer Service: Greet customers, answer questions, and help them find the right products for their pets, backyard birds, and outdoor needs.
- Keep Departments Stocked & Organized: Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing displays.
- Support Inventory Management: Monitor product availability, assist with receiving merchandise, and communicate inventory needs to store leadership.
- Assist with Merchandising: Ensure products are properly priced, signed, and displayed while helping with seasonal merchandise changes and promotions.
- Build Product Knowledge: Learn about pet supplies, wild bird food, and outerwear products to provide helpful recommendations to customers.
- Support Store Operations: Assist with inventory counts, product organization, and other daily store responsibilities.
- Work as One Team: Collaborate with fellow team members and store leadership to create a positive shopping experience and help the store succeed.

Work Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred, but we're happy to train the right person!
- An interest in pets, wild bird products, or outdoor apparel is a plus.
- A friendly, positive attitude and a genuine desire to help customers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently while also being a team player.
- Willingness to learn new products, processes, and store systems.
- Dependability, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise, including bags of pet food and bird seed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform routine stocking duties throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working in an animal-friendly environment (accommodations available upon request).
