Job Description:

This 14-month contract will support process improvement and transformation initiatives across Enterprise Employee Relations. Working with ER teams globally, including Canada, the U.S., and Asia, the Sr. Consultant will help re-engineer core ER processes end-to-end to strengthen consistency, efficiency, governance, and the stakeholder experience.

The Enterprise ER team provides advice on complex employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, investigations, conduct issues, performance-related matters, organizational change, and other sensitive employment issues. The team partners with HR, Legal, Compliance, business leaders, and other stakeholders to support fair, consistent, and risk-informed outcomes across Sun Life.

What Will You Do?

Process Improvement, Redesign & Governance

- Proactively assess current-state ER processes end-to-end to identify opportunities to strengthen consistency, efficiency, governance, and the employee, leader, and colleague experience
- Support technology or case-management-system enhancements from a process perspective, partnering with internal teams as needed
- Identify opportunities to simplify, streamline, and strengthen ER workflows, including ways to reduce friction, improve handoffs, and improve experiences for employees, leaders, and ER colleagues
- Design clear process guidance, workflows, playbooks, job aids, and toolkits that translate redesigned processes into practical execution supports
- Refine and develop templates, precedents, checklists, and other ER documentation resources to support efficient, consistent process execution
- Establish a mechanism for ongoing process feedback and continuous improvement that can be handed over for business-as-usual ownership

Change Management & Transformation

- Lead structured change initiatives from discovery through design, pilot, rollout, and adoption
- Coordinate cross-functional working groups and workshops with ER case managers, investigators, Legal, HRBPs, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and validate designs
- Develop communications, stakeholder engagement plans, training, and enablement materials that support successful implementation and sustainable adoption
- Track and report progress, risks, issues, and implementation challenges to ER leadership on a regular cadence, escalating where needed
- Act as a change agent by building buy-in, supporting adoption, and helping embed new ways of working across ER teams and stakeholders

What Do You Need to Succeed?

- University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, Change Management, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in HR, Employee Relations, HR Operations, Process Improvement, Program Management, Change Management, or business transformation
- Demonstrated experience leading process improvement, operating-model redesign, or transformation initiatives, ideally within HR
- Experience designing and implementing process guidance, workflows, playbooks, job aids, toolkits, templates, precedents, standard operating procedures, or other resources that support consistent process execution
- Strong project, program, stakeholder management, facilitation, and written communication skills
- Ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities in a complex environment
- Curious and continuous-learning mindset, with a pragmatic approach to solving problems and improving how work gets done
- Experience working within Employee Relations, HR Operations, or a related HR centre of expertise
- Formal training or experience in change management or process improvement methodologies is an asset
