About this role

Job Title: Case Engineer Job Description The Case Engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes used to produce metallic cartridge cases across multiple calibers. This role serves as a technical subject-matter expert for case-forming operations, production equipment, process safety, and manufacturing optimization. By working closely with Operations, Quality, Program Management, and external stakeholders, the Case Engineer supports reliable production, consistent product quality, and compliance with energetic and industrial manufacturing requirements. Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for metallic cartridge cases, including case draw, neck, trim, ream, wash, and related operations.
- Create, update, and maintain detailed work instructions, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and supporting forms for both energetic and non-energetic manufacturing processes.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert in metallic case manufacturing and identify, evaluate, and source equipment required to process and produce metallic components.
- Set up, optimize, and support production equipment and manufacturing lines, including draw presses, forming presses, trim machines, wash lines, and other specialized machinery.
- Develop process hazard analyses and safety procedures in alignment with BATFE and OSHA requirements and support compliance with DoD 4145 energetic safety standards and DoD 5100 security standards.
- Conduct research, experimentation, and process development activities to improve component processing, performance, quality, and manufacturability.
- Design, implement, and lead non-destructive and destructive testing programs to evaluate components and support exploratory efforts on new munitions, devices, components, and systems.
- Support Program Management and Quality Assurance by preparing and delivering technical reports and by participating in Physical Configuration Audits, First Article Acceptance Tests, and Lot Acceptance Tests.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives in metallic forming and cartridge-case manufacturing processes.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for manufacturing equipment and processes to resolve production issues and enhance operational efficiency.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or ammunition/munitions engineering.
- Hands-on experience developing, implementing, or improving manufacturing processes for metallic components or similar precision-manufactured products.
- Practical experience with metallic forming or cartridge-case manufacturing processes, including drawing, forming, necking, reaming, and washing.
- Experience setting up, optimizing, and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment such as draw presses, forming presses, trim machines, and wash lines.
- Proven ability to develop clear and accurate work instructions, standard operating procedures, and other technical process documentation.
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement principles applied to manufacturing processes.
- Technical understanding of metallic component forming and cartridge-case manufacturing in an ammunition or munitions environment.
- Awareness of safety practices and regulatory considerations related to energetic and industrial manufacturing operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience in ammunition or munitions manufacturing environments.
- Experience in research and development focused on improving manufacturing processes, product performance, and quality.
- Familiarity with non-destructive and destructive testing methods for metallic components and munitions.
- Ability to support technical reporting and formal test events such as Physical Configuration Audits, First Article Acceptance Tests, and Lot Acceptance Tests.
- Exposure to compliance frameworks and safety standards relevant to BATFE, OSHA, DoD 4145 energetic safety, and DoD 5100 security.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously while proposing and implementing process improvements.
- Interest in working with proprietary new product lines and contributing to the development of specialized munitions manufacturing capabilities.
- Closest market comparison: Manufacturing Engineer or Process Engineer with specialization in metal forming and munitions.

Work Environment This position is based on-site at a small ammunition facility located outside the city, offering a combination of office and production floor work. The Case Engineer spends time in a technical office setting for documentation, analysis, and collaboration, as well as on the manufacturing floor working directly with equipment such as draw presses, forming presses, trim machines, and wash lines. The environment supports hands-on engineering, close interaction with operations and quality teams, and the opportunity to work autonomously on a proprietary new product line while contributing to continuous improvement in a specialized manufacturing setting.
