About this role

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all .

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

As Distinguished Member Technical Staff, Future of Supply Chain , you will serve as Micron's technical authority on emerging supply chain capability — defining where the end-to-end supply chain must go technically, and leading the identification, evaluation, and incubation of the capabilities that will create durable competitive advantage. You will set the direction for how Micron's supply chain operates through innovation, emerging technologies, and new ways of working, and you will be accountable for advancing those capabilities to the point of proven technical readiness and transition into the operating organization.

Guided by broad functional objectives, you will establish and own a portfolio of innovation opportunities spanning multiple technical disciplines, exercise influence over solution roadmaps and technology direction at the division/group level, and build the internal and external networks — industry bodies, technology providers, startups, research institutions, and academia — that keep Micron ahead of the state of the art. You will regularly advise functional and executive leadership on where to invest, what to stop, and what capability gaps must be closed, and you will mentor the next generation of technical talent in this space.

Responsibilities

- Own the Future of Supply Chain innovation portfolio as the recognized technical authority for Micron's global supply chain, spanning multiple technical disciplines and business lines.
- Define and maintain a technology radar and point of view on emerging trends, technologies, and business capabilities; research external and environmental efforts and selectively drive the right ones through Micron.
- Propose new areas for development based on advanced technical judgment, knowledge of Micron's interests, and the competitive landscape — and gain internal alignment.
- Establish the governing system for innovation intake, assessment, experimentation, and recommendation, and make it scale across Global Supply Chain.
- Lead proof-of-concept and pilot efforts through to conclusion of technical readiness, with measurable impact to programs and the business, and drive transition into sustained operational capability.
- Deliver a sustained, demonstrable track record of innovation — championing initiatives that produce worldwide impact and positive ROI for Micron.
- Resolve highly complex, cross-domain problems by integrating expert knowledge across supply chain, data science, operations research, and adjacent technical fields where no established solution exists.
- Evaluate and set direction on emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, autonomous agents, advanced analytics, digital twins, automation, and optimization.
- Regularly shape solution roadmaps and functional strategy; exercise influence over critical technology and capability decisions at the division/group level.
- Provide consultation and executive-ready recommendations to functional leaders and senior management on innovation investments, capability bets, and long-term supply chain technical strategy.
- Build and lead a cross-functional innovation community, networking effectively to share methods, information, and expertise across a broad internal and external community without prompting from leadership.
- Actively mentor technical contributors within and outside the functional area; and serve as a role model for technical leadership, communication, and teamwork.
- Scale impact through a broad network of virtual contributors across the organization — success is measured by creating a self-sustaining system for innovation across Global Supply Chain, not by personal throughput alone.

Minimum Qualifications

- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in technology strategy, innovation, digital transformation, advanced analytics, supply chain, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated track record of major technical accomplishments with regional or global impact and quantified, independently verifiable ROI.
- Sustained record of innovation with clear articulation of direct personal contribution — evidenced by patents, trade secrets, recognized competitive advantages, innovation awards, technical publications or presentations, or customer recognition.
- Recognized as a technical authority within (and ideally outside) Micron across a broad domain or multiple domains.
- Deep applied expertise in artificial intelligence, automation, advanced analytics, digital twins, or comparable emerging technologies, with demonstrated ability to take them from concept to technical readiness.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives spanning multiple sub-functions, sites, and geographies in a matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior and executive management to stop, start, or redirect major technical investments without direct authority.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and executive presentation skills.
- Demonstrated record of mentoring and developing technical talent.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in semiconductor, manufacturing, or large-scale global operations environments.
- Experience establishing innovation programs, communities of practice, or technology incubation functions from the ground up.
- Demonstrated ability to translate emerging technologies into scalable, adopted business capabilities at enterprise scale.
- External technical visibility — industry consortia, standards bodies, conference presentations, advisory boards, or academic/research partnerships.
