Job Title: Crew Tech Lead

Location: Bengaluru

Business & Team:

Finance Core Platforms is responsible for the technology foundations that support the Bank’s core financial accounting, consolidation, close, reconciliation and financial reporting processes. The crew has primary technology accountability for Oracle PeopleSoft General Ledger, commonly referred to as PSGL, and the Oracle EPM platform, including the capabilities used for financial consolidation, account reconciliation, management and statutory reporting.

These platforms process and hold critical financial information and support Group financial close, financial control, statutory and regulatory reporting, liquidity reporting and downstream finance processes. The crew is responsible for the availability, integrity, security, engineering, integration and ongoing modernisation of these platforms.

As Crew Tech Lead, you will be the senior technology leader accountable for the engineering direction, architecture, lifecycle and operational performance of PSGL and Oracle EPM. You will combine strong knowledge of Oracle finance applications with an understanding of financial accounting, consolidation, close, reconciliation and reporting processes.

You will work closely with the Crew Lead, Finance business owners, architecture, engineering teams, Oracle and strategic delivery partners to set the target-state direction for these platforms. You will be expected to understand how configuration, customisation, integration, data, infrastructure and vendor product decisions affect finance processes, controls, reporting outcomes and long-term platform sustainability.

Impact & contribution:

- A clear, endorsed technology strategy and roadmap for PSGL and Oracle EPM, covering sustainability, simplification, lifecycle management and target-state direction.
- Measurable improvement in the resilience, security, recoverability and operational performance of PSGL and EPM.
- Reduced platform customisation and technical debt, with documented treatment plans for remaining material items.
- Improved engineering automation across testing, deployment, configuration assurance, monitoring and operational controls.
- Reliable delivery of upgrades and change without disruption to critical finance close and reporting periods.
- Clear ownership and traceability of integrations and financial data flows into and out of PSGL and EPM.
- Stronger internal Oracle and finance-platform engineering capability, with reduced key-person and supplier dependency.
- Transparent vendor performance, licensing, investment and product-roadmap decisions.
- Earlier identification and resolution of issues that could affect ledger integrity, consolidation, reconciliation or statutory and regulatory reporting.
- Finance stakeholders have confidence that the platforms are safe, supportable and aligned to the future direction of Finance.

Reporting lines: Engineering General Manager

Roles & Responsibilities:

Technology strategy and engineering leadership

- Set and own the technology strategy and roadmap for PSGL and Oracle EPM, aligned with the Bank’s finance strategy, enterprise architecture, data strategy and engineering standards.

- Provide credible technical leadership across Oracle PeopleSoft Financials and Oracle EPM, including application architecture, configuration, customisation, integration, data movement, security, environments, testing, release management and production support.

- Understand the engineering characteristics of vendor platforms and establish fit-for-purpose engineering practices covering source and configuration management, automated testing, deployment, environment management, observability, resilience and release assurance.

- Determine where requirements should be met through product configuration, platform extensions, custom engineering, integration services or changes to business processes.

- Challenge unnecessary customisation and define a deliberate strategy for simplifying the platforms, reducing technical debt and maintaining viable upgrade and migration pathways.

- Own the architectural direction for integrations into and out of PSGL and Oracle EPM, including ledger feeds, reference data, reporting, reconciliation, close and downstream data consumption.

- Assess Oracle product roadmaps, releases and service changes and translate them into implications, decisions and investment priorities for the Bank.

- Ensure material platform decisions consider finance controls, data integrity, auditability, traceability, security, resilience, vendor supportability and whole-of-life cost.

- Maintain an informed view of the future ERP and EPM landscape and guide the transition from current platforms toward agreed target-state capabilities.

Finance domain and platform leadership

- Develop a strong understanding of the end-to-end finance processes supported by PSGL and Oracle EPM, including general ledger processing, journal management, chart of accounts and chart-field management, financial close, consolidation, reconciliations, management reporting, statutory reporting and regulatory reporting.
- Translate finance requirements and control obligations into clear platform, architecture and engineering outcomes.
- Understand the flow of financial data from source systems and sub-ledgers into PSGL, through consolidation and reconciliation, and into downstream reporting and data platforms.
- Ensure technology changes preserve accounting integrity, balanced postings, reconciliation, lineage, auditability and the ability to reproduce financial outcomes.
- Partner with Finance leaders, financial controllers, system accountants, Product Owners and technology teams to identify root causes rather than treating technology symptoms in isolation.
- Set direction across current-state sustainability, platform simplification and longer-term ERP/EPM modernisation.
- Evaluate the implications of introducing new finance capabilities into or around PSGL and EPM, including the impact on finance processes, controls, integration, operating model and vendor dependency.

Portfolio, program and change leadership

- Lead the PSGL and Oracle EPM change portfolio, balancing regulatory, financial-close, resilience, lifecycle, security, simplification and business-change priorities.
- Oversee major Oracle upgrades, patches, SaaS releases, integration changes and platform migrations, ensuring appropriate impact assessment, testing, cutover and business readiness.
- Establish release and environment strategies that protect critical finance periods, including month-end, quarter-end, year-end and external reporting cycles.
- Ensure business, engineering, operational and control readiness is established before material platform changes are implemented.
- Maintain clear governance over platform customisations, technical debt, product gaps, vendor dependencies and modernisation decisions.
- Lead option assessments for material platform decisions, including configuration versus customisation, vendor capability versus internal engineering, and tactical versus strategic solutions.

Planning, risk and dependencies

- Partner with the Crew Lead to translate business priorities into an executable portfolio and represent the Crew Lead in planning, operations and governance when required
- Support quarterly planning and cross-domain dependency forums, ensuring the crew’s priorities and constraints are understood and appropriately represented.
- Identify material risks, interdependencies, issues and impediments early; establish mitigation, ownership, escalation and resolution strategies.
- Provide strategic guidance to Product Owners, Crew Leads and delivery leaders to resolve complex issues and protect critical outcomes.
- Maintain an integrated roadmap covering PSGL, Oracle EPM, infrastructure, integrations, data dependencies, vendor releases and finance business milestones.
- Identify and actively manage dependencies across source systems, sub-ledgers, PSGL, EPM, reconciliation platforms, reporting platforms and enterprise data services.
- Protect critical finance events through appropriate release controls, blackout periods, operational readiness, contingency planning and heightened support.
- Ensure risks relating to financial data integrity, reconciliation, reporting completeness, platform availability, vendor changes and unsupported technology are clearly understood and owned.
- Define measurable lifecycle plans for platform upgrades, customisation reduction, automation, resilience improvement and eventual migration or retirement.
- Ensure significant engineering decisions include documented options, business and non-functional requirements, risks, cost and target-state alignment.

People and capability leadership

- Build and sustain internal capability across Oracle PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleTools, Oracle EPM, finance-platform integration, testing and production engineering.
- Reduce dependency on individual specialists and external suppliers by strengthening documentation, cross-skilling, succession planning and internal technical leadership.

- Establish clear technical ownership across PSGL, Oracle EPM and their supporting integrations.

- Ensure engineers understand the finance processes and control outcomes supported by the platforms, not only the underlying technology.

- Develop engineering leaders who can operate effectively across packaged applications, SaaS services, legacy infrastructure and modern integration and automation practices.

- Determine the appropriate balance of internal capability, Oracle expertise, strategic partners and specialist vendors.

Stakeholder, commercial and supplier leadership

- Act as the senior technology counterpart for Oracle across PSGL and EPM product strategy, service performance, incidents, support, roadmap, licensing and commercial discussions.
- Hold Oracle and other delivery partners accountable for product quality, defect resolution, release transparency, service performance and committed outcomes.

- Translate Oracle product and licensing proposals into clear technology, finance, operational and whole-of-life cost implications.

- Maintain transparent oversight of software licensing, support agreements, cloud consumption, specialist services and partner capability.

- Work closely with Finance executives and platform owners to ensure product decisions reflect business priorities rather than being driven solely by vendor roadmaps.

- Lead material vendor escalations where platform defects or service changes place financial close, reporting or control outcomes at risk.

Essential Skills:

- Significant leadership experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Financials, particularly General Ledger, or a comparable enterprise-grade finance ERP platform.

- Strong experience with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management capabilities, preferably including Financial Consolidation and Close, Account Reconciliation, Essbase and EPM integration tooling.

- Demonstrated understanding of engineering and delivery practices for packaged enterprise applications, including configuration management, customisation, integration, automated testing, release management, patching, upgrades and production support.

- Strong understanding of core finance processes, including general ledger, journals, chart of accounts, financial close, consolidation, reconciliations, financial controls, statutory reporting and regulatory reporting.

- Experience setting technology strategy and roadmaps for critical finance platforms in a large, highly governed organisation.

- Demonstrated ability to translate finance requirements into platform architecture, engineering priorities and measurable technology outcomes.

- Experience managing complex integrations between source systems, sub-ledgers, enterprise finance platforms, reconciliation tools, reporting systems and data platforms.

- Experience managing material vendor relationships, software licensing, product roadmaps, managed services and major incident escalation.

- Demonstrated leadership of platform upgrades, lifecycle remediation, customisation reduction or major ERP/EPM transformation.

- Strong understanding of auditability, data integrity, reconciliation, security, resilience and operational controls within financial systems.

- Oracle People Tools and PeopleSoft application lifecycle experience.

- Oracle EPM Cloud experience across FCCS, ARCS, Essbase, EDMCS, EPM Automate or equivalent capabilities.

- Experience with Oracle integration patterns and enterprise data integration.

- Experience modernising legacy finance platforms or preparing for transition to a SaaS ERP/EPM target state.

- Experience operating critical financial platforms through month-end, year-end and external reporting periods.

- Financial-services experience in a regulated organisation.

- Accounting or finance qualifications, or demonstrated equivalent finance-domain expertise.
