About this role
Job Description:
Dow Jones Newswires seeks an experienced Senior Editor to lead cross-asset coverage in Europe from our London headquarters.
With several years’ proven experience of managing and inspiring a team of reporters, you’ll be across the significant stories of the day, picking up from our Asia-Pacific colleagues and ensuring a smooth transition into the Americas’ business day.
You’ll be able to deliver broad and deep coverage at a time of great significance for sovereign and corporate debt, currencies and digital assets, among others, as investment flows adjust to conflicts, trade, tariffs and political change. You’ll play a central role in making the essential connections that will drive decision making around coverage regionally and globally, taking the helicopter view to best serve Dow Jones Newswires’ professional customers—from day traders to C-suite executives—and remaining mindful of the needs of sister publications, including The Wall Street Journal.
You will:
- Lead a team of reporters to deliver fast headlines, quick stories, speedy context-rich analysis, and high-impact scoops.
- Manage seamless coverage handoffs from Asia-Pacific teams into the Americas' business day.
- Rapidly assess, edit, and publish breaking news with exceptional judgment, speed, accuracy, and adherence to core standards and ethics.
- Collaborate with reporters and editors across different regions and groups.
- Utilize publishing systems and technology to enhance the speed and efficiency of news monitoring, fact-checking, and cross-team communication.
- Properly code and tag headlines and content for various channels and digital platforms.
- Navigate guardrails around AI while exploring its potential for internal and external use.
You have:
- Demonstrable track record and several years of experience in leading and inspiring editorial teams to deliver impactful outcomes.
- Deep financial knowledge to quickly prioritize breaking news across sovereign/corporate debt, currencies, digital assets, and broader markets.
- Sharp writing and editing skills covering tone, structure, style, accuracy, balance, and fairness.
- A strong understanding of newsroom workflows, digital/print platforms, and the needs of Dow Jones Newswires' professional audience.
- Advanced proficiency with digital publishing systems and newsroom technologies.
- A well-honed sense of urgency with the ability to remain calm, decisive, and focused under pressure.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Precise, compassionate communication skills with a proactive, curious, and collaborative mindset.
This role is based in our European hub in the London Bridge Quarter on a hybrid basis, with at least three working days per week in the office.
