Who we are
Every three minutes, someone in Ireland hears the words ‘You’ve got cancer’. At the Irish Cancer Society, we understand the physical, emotional and financial impact a cancer diagnosis brings. And we are determined to do everything we can to help.
As Ireland’s leading cancer charity, we work across every area of cancer – from prevention and early detection, through to end-of-life care. We make a positive impact for people affected by cancer every day: investing in lifesaving and life-changing research; providing practical, financial and emotional supports; and driving improvements in public cancer services.
221+ Mission
The 221+ Patient Support Group was established in July 2018 to provide information, advice, and support to the women and families directly affected by failures in the Cervical Check Screening Programme that came to light following Vicky Phelan’s court case in April 2018.
Since 2019, we have offered direct support to our members, while also advocated on policy at a national level to ensure access to better health care for all women. We are a member led organisation, and our members are at the core of everything we do.
The Role
The Communications and Campaigns Officer will lead the 221+’s digital communications, social media presence, campaigns and internal communications. The postholder will create engaging content, promote the organisation's work, support awareness initiatives, and produce communications that keep staff, members and stakeholders informed and connected.
The Ideal Candidate

221+ is a small, productive team, with each team member supporting each other while also taking the initiative on their own responsibilities.
