About this role

Join a fast-growing, listed company with a purpose and inspire thousands of drivers to transition towards electric mobility! Together with 450+ colleagues across Europe, we have the ambition to build Europe's best fast-charging network. We are active in 9 markets across Europe. We have recently been voted best charging network in the UK, France, and the Netherlands, a testimony to our drive to offer the best charging experience to EV drivers!

The role

Our distinctive charging canopies create an opportunity to integrate solar panels (PV) into station design. However, this comes with a cost and certain operational complexity. We are looking for a working student to identify where solar panels create genuine legal, permitting or commercial value to help us review our strategy around this asset.

What you will do

- Research national, regional and local rules on solar panels regulations impacting tenders and contacts for our European markets.
- Review permitting frameworks to determine whether solar panels create explicit scoring, compliance or approval advantages and quantify those.
- Review existing Fastned contracts to identify where solar panels is explicitly mentioned and document the requirements around it (energy generation, maintenance etc).
- Make a clear distinction between green energy sourcing and on-premises solar panels requirements.
- If time allows: research the influence that solar panels have on customers choosing to charge at Fastned locations.

Key deliverables

- A country/region matrix showing legal requirements or clear advantages for tenders.
- A country/region matrix showing proven advantages for permits.
- An inventory of requirements around PVs in our existing contracts.
- Bonus: evaluation of the value of PVs for our customers.

Who we are looking for

- A bachelor’s or master’s student in law, preferably energy law, environmental law, administrative law, European law, real-estate law or construction law.
- A genuine interest in renewable energy, electric mobility, infrastructure and the energy transition.
- Strong ability to read legislation, official guidance, tender documents and commercial contracts.
- Excellent written English and the ability to explain complex legal topics clearly to non-lawyers.
- A structured and analytical approach, with strong attention to source quality, citations and uncertainty.
- Comfort with Excel or Google Sheets and the organisation of a large document set.
- Fluency in another relevant language, such as Dutch, French, German, Spanish or Italian, is an advantage.
- Experience with planning, permitting, public procurement, infrastructure or renewable-energy projects is an advantage.
