The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specalist.This role focuses on keeping HSBC’s backup infrastructure reliable secure and ready for recovery when it matters most. You’ll work across Veritas NetBackup and Commvault at L3 level covering installation configuration and ongoing platform health. Success means incidents are resolved effectively changes are implemented cleanly and recovery testing is routine and dependable. You’ll also plan and deliver upgrades migrations and diagnostics across NetBackup appliances and wider backup infrastructure. The work supports operational stability and helps meet organisational security standards.
In this role, you will:
- Carry out NetBackup and Commvault installation and configuration at L3 level
- Perform regular system maintenance and patch management across the backup environment
- Resolve incidents and implement changes to maintain service stability
- Diagnose and remediate performance and security issues across backup infrastructure
- Execute regular data recovery tests and disaster recovery procedures
- Plan and deliver software upgrades firmware updates migrations and hardware diagnostics for NetBackup appliances and related platforms
- Maintain backup infrastructure to mitigate security vulnerabilities and meet organisational standards
To be successful, you will:
- Bring 10 years of hands-on experience in Veritas NetBackup and Commvault administration
- Apply strong Linux administration skills and scripting experience such as shell Python or Puppet
- Use practical experience with Veritas appliances and Data Domain appliances
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of SLP and Vault
- Apply experience integrating Oracle SQL ESX and NDMP with NetBackup
- Explain and use TCP/IP concepts confidently in day-to-day troubleshooting
- Apply a clear understanding of SAN infrastructure and architecture
- Translate functional requirements into technical specifications that work in production
Strengthening Recoverability at Scale
This is a hands-on platform role with clear outcomes - stable backup services reliable recovery and well-governed change. You’ll be trusted to manage complex maintenance activities and keep key infrastructure aligned to security standards.
