Job Description

We are looking for a friendly, reliable Junior Chef / Catering Assistant to join our team at Terumo Aortic, Inchinnan.

During breakfast and lunch service, your main responsibility will be serving food at the counters and looking after our customers. Outside service times, you’ll work alongside our chefs to help prepare and produce the breakfast and lunch offer. This role combines junior chef duties with practical catering and general assistant support.

What you’ll do:
• Make counter service your priority during breakfast and lunch, serving food promptly and providing a welcoming, helpful service.
• Set up, replenish and keep the food counters clean, well presented and ready for customers.
• Help with the preparation and cooking of breakfast and lunch dishes under the guidance of the chef team.
• Prepare ingredients, salads and other menu items, following recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Follow allergen procedures and refer customer questions to the appropriate colleague whenever needed.
• Maintain food safety, temperature checks, hygiene and cleaning records as required.
• Help put away deliveries, rotate stock and keep kitchen and service areas organised.
• Support till service, cash handling and menu tablet updates when needed.
• Work with the wider team on cleaning, washing up and other catering duties to keep the operation running smoothly.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn and develop your cooking skills while contributing to both the kitchen and customer service.

Qualifications

We’d like to hear from you if you have:
• Some experience in a kitchen, café, restaurant or catering environment, with an interest in developing your cooking skills. Experience as a kitchen assistant, catering assistant or commis chef would be useful.
• A friendly manner and confidence serving customers at a busy food counter.
• A basic understanding of food preparation, food hygiene and safe working practices.
• A reliable approach, good timekeeping and the ability to work well with others.
• A willingness to help across both kitchen preparation and customer service.
• The ability to follow instructions and recipes, stay organised and communicate clearly during service.

You do not need to be an established Chef de Partie. Relevant practical experience and a willingness to learn are what matter; training and support will be provided. Food hygiene or catering qualifications are welcome.
