Position Summary
The Director of Prayer House provides spiritual, strategic, and operational leadership for PreBorn!’s internal Prayer House. This role is responsible for developing and sustaining an organized ministry of prayer that covers PreBorn!’s mission, leadership, employees, pregnancy clinic partners, donors, ministry initiatives, and organizational growth.
The Director will build a culture in which prayer is not simply an organizational activity, but a foundational ministry discipline that informs decisions, strengthens employees, supports clinic partners, and advances PreBorn!’s mission to glorify Jesus Christ by saving more babies and souls.
This individual must combine deep spiritual maturity and a demonstrated calling to prayer with strong leadership, organizational development, communication, and team-building capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership and Prayer Strategy
- Develop and lead a comprehensive prayer strategy aligned with PreBorn!’s mission, Vision/Traction Organizer, strategic priorities, and organizational growth.
- Seek the Lord regarding ministry priorities and help cultivate a consistent posture of prayer and dependence upon God throughout the organization.
- Lead and facilitate corporate prayer gatherings, special prayer initiatives, and focused seasons of intercession.
- Establish intentional prayer coverage for executive leadership, departments, employees, pregnancy clinics, donors, ministry partners, campaigns, events, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the Prayer House remains biblically grounded, Christ-centered, mission-focused, and aligned with PreBorn!’s Statement of Faith.
- Foster a culture of spiritual discernment, humility, confidentiality, unity, and faith.
Prayer House Leadership
- Build, lead, coach, and develop Prayer House staff, including managers, coordinators, pastoral-care staff, and intercessors.
- Establish clear expectations, roles, schedules, operating procedures, and accountability for the department.
- Develop a sustainable model for onsite and remote prayer coverage.
- Recruit and develop spiritually mature individuals who demonstrate both a calling to intercession and alignment with PreBorn!’s culture and Core Values.
- Conduct regular team meetings, spiritual development, coaching, and performance management.
- Build leadership depth and succession capacity within the Prayer House.
Organizational Integration
- Partner closely with the President, Executive Leadership Team, and department leaders to understand organizational priorities and translate those priorities into focused prayer.
- Establish appropriate processes for departments and leaders to submit prayer needs and strategic prayer requests.
- Ensure significant ministry initiatives, major decisions, campaigns, clinic opportunities, organizational changes, and areas of spiritual opposition receive intentional prayer coverage.
- Build relationships across the organization so that the Prayer House is viewed as a trusted ministry partner.
- Protect appropriate confidentiality while ensuring prayer teams receive sufficient context to pray effectively.
Clinic and Ministry Partner Intercession
- Develop a scalable prayer strategy for pregnancy clinics and ministry partners served by PreBorn!.
- Establish prayer portfolios, regional prayer assignments, or other structures that allow intercessors to develop meaningful familiarity with clinic needs.
- Partner with Client Services and other ministry departments to identify significant prayer needs, victories, challenges, and opportunities.
- Build systems that allow clinic leaders to submit prayer requests and receive encouragement when appropriate.
External Prayer Mobilization
- Develop a long-term strategy to mobilize churches, donors, volunteers, ministry partners, and other believers to pray for PreBorn!’s mission.
- Build and steward an external network of committed intercessors.
- Partner with Communications, Marketing, Fundraising, and ministry teams to appropriately share prayer needs, testimonies, and opportunities for engagement.
- Develop scalable systems that allow the external prayer network to grow significantly beyond internal Prayer House staffing.
Prayer Operations and Stewardship
- Establish systems and policies for prayer-request intake, prioritization, confidentiality, escalation, documentation, and follow-up.
- Develop departmental goals, quarterly Rocks, scorecard measurables, and annual priorities.
- Measure operational faithfulness without reducing prayer to purely quantitative outcomes.
- Prepare regular Prayer House updates for executive leadership.
- Develop and manage the annual Prayer House budget.
- Identify staffing, technology, facility, and ministry-resource needs as the department grows.
Pastoral and Crisis Prayer Support
- Ensure appropriate prayer support is available during significant employee, clinic, leadership, or organizational crises.
- Establish healthy boundaries between prayer ministry, pastoral care, Human Resources, professional counseling, and other support resources.
- Ensure confidential spiritual matters are handled with wisdom, discretion, and integrity.
Leadership Expectations
The Director of Prayer House is expected to:
- Model a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, wisdom, and discernment.
- Lead through prayer rather than merely administering a prayer program.
- Combine faith and spiritual sensitivity with sound organizational judgment.
- Communicate effectively with both ministry leaders and frontline employees.
- Build systems capable of supporting significant organizational growth.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity.
- Demonstrate PreBorn!’s Core Values of Steadfast, Adaptable, Integrity, Fruitful, and Prayerful.
