REQUIRED PREREQUISITES
NEW & LATERAL OFFICERS
- Upon hire, initial $1,100 uniform allowance, (A list of required items to be purchased will be supplied)
- Annual education incentive annually of
$1000 associate degree
- $2000 bachelor's degree
- $3000 master's degree.
- Ogden City offers a $7,500 hiring bonus for successful lateral candidates.
LATERAL OFFICERS
Police Officers' standards and training certificate is required (L.E.O.) or the ability to obtain one. Please submit any documents you have with your application.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
Some prior state, municipal, or local law enforcement experience is desired. A pplicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment; training equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade is required. Possession of a P.O.S.T. category I or II certificate or an associate degree with the emphasis in law enforcement with a minor that would enhance the officer's social awareness is desired but not mandatory. POSSESSION OF, OR ABILITY TO OBTAIN, A VALID UTAH DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED .
LATERAL TRANSFER EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
Must be currently or within the last two years employed as a Peace Officer (Law Enforcement Officer) in Utah or another state; may have retired or resigned from a full-time SWORN L.E.O. position within the last two years. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment; training equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade is required.
