About this role

Selking International is looking for a motivated, mechanically inclined individual to join our Elkhart dealership as a Service Advisor Trainee.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys trucks, cars, mechanics, technology, and figuring out how things work. You don't need previous diesel or dealership experience, but having a natural interest in mechanical equipment and a willingness to learn will help you succeed.

In this role, you'll work alongside our service advisors, technicians, and parts team while learning how a heavy-duty truck dealership operates. You'll help coordinate daily shop activities, move trucks and equipment, assist with parts, support technicians, and learn the systems and processes that keep our service department running efficiently.

Our goal is to develop the right person into a Service Advisor within approximately 6 to 12 months. We're looking for someone who is dependable, technically minded, organized, and comfortable working with both people and technology.

Full-time position – 40 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities

- Assist with daily service department operations and help keep jobs moving through the shop.

- Support service advisors with work orders, paperwork, repair status updates, and administrative tasks.

- Coordinate with the parts department to locate, pick up, and deliver parts.

- Move trucks and equipment around the dealership, shop, and parking lot. A valid driver's license is required.

- Assist technicians with general shop duties and help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

- Learn how truck repairs, maintenance, parts, and service processes work together.

- Become familiar with dealership software, computer systems, and service department processes.

- Develop the communication, organizational, and technical knowledge needed to transition into a Service Advisor position.

What We're Looking For

- A strong work ethic and a desire to learn.

- An interest in mechanics, cars, trucks, equipment, or technology.

- Someone who enjoys troubleshooting, understanding how things work, and solving problems.

- Comfortable using computers and learning new software and systems.

- Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks throughout the day.

- Good communication skills and the ability to work with technicians, coworkers, and customers.

- Someone who enjoys staying active and helping wherever needed.

- A valid driver's license.

No previous diesel, technician, or dealership experience is required. Mechanical aptitude, curiosity, a positive attitude, and dependability are what matter most.
