ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

The Recruiter will manage the full end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for a high-volume portfolio of frontline and operational vacancies across ABM’s Facility Services division, including high-profile corporate sites and other customer environments.

Acting as a trusted partner to operational leaders, the Recruiter will deliver recruitment activity from attraction through to onboarding, while providing informed recruitment advice, labour-market insight and appropriate challenge. They will understand contract requirements, turnover, seasonal demand and anticipated skills gaps, translating these into proactive recruitment strategies and talent pipelines.

Operating in a fast-paced environment, the Recruiter will balance pace and volume with quality, compliance and candidate experience. They will maintain accurate recruitment records and reporting, support managers with recruitment systems and selection capability, and identify process improvements that help keep recruitment moving and improve hiring outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the full end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for high-volume frontline and operational vacancies across Facility Services, from vacancy approval and hiring-manager briefing through attraction, selection, offer and handover to onboarding.

- Partner with operational leaders, hiring managers, HR and other stakeholders to understand contract requirements, workforce pressures, turnover, seasonal demand and future skills needs, translating these into practical recruitment and talent-pipeline plans.

- Lead effective vacancy briefings and use recruitment data and labour-market insight to advise and appropriately challenge on role requirements, pay, candidate availability, sourcing options, compliance, risks and realistic hiring timescales.

- Proactively source and attract candidates through job boards, CV databases, social media, direct outreach/headhunting, referrals, community partnerships and existing talent pools, with particular focus on difficult-to-fill and business-critical roles.

- Build and maintain pipelines for recurring and high-volume requirements, including re-engaging previous applicants and former employees and developing alternative talent pools such as returners, career changers, veterans and underrepresented groups.

- Manage screening, shortlisting, interviews, assessment events, recruitment days and candidate communications, supporting hiring managers to deliver fair, consistent selection and a positive candidate experience.

- Respond quickly to changing workforce requirements, including mobilisations, business growth, seasonal demand and unexpected staffing shortages, using creative attraction activity such as open days, walk-in interviews, targeted campaigns and local recruitment events.

- Build effective external partnerships with Jobcentre Plus, employability providers, local authorities, community groups, colleges and training providers, and represent ABM professionally at careers fairs, community events and customer sites.

- Maintain accurate vacancy and candidate records within the applicant tracking system and monitor recruitment measures including vacancy levels and ageing, turnover, time to hire, source, conversion, attendance and offer acceptance, using insight to improve plans and performance.

- Support a smooth transition from offer to start date by working closely with HR, vetting, onboarding and operational teams, including Right to Work checks and relevant recruitment documentation.

- Train and support hiring managers on ATS functionality, recruitment stages, interview skills and effective questioning, promoting consistent, compliant and data-protection-conscious recruitment practice.
- Contribute to wider recruitment strategy and continuous improvement, including reducing unnecessary agency reliance, improving processes and ensuring all recruitment activity meets ABM policy, employment legislation, data protection and equality, diversity and inclusion requirements.

Requirements

- Demonstrable end-to-end recruitment experience within an in-house, RPO or agency environment, ideally with significant exposure to high-volume frontline and operational hiring.

- Experience recruiting across multiple sites, customer contracts or geographically dispersed locations within facilities management, cleaning, security, engineering, construction, industrial, logistics, aviation, transport or a similar labour-intensive environment.

- Proven ability to manage a large and changing vacancy portfolio at pace while maintaining quality, accuracy, compliance and a positive candidate experience.

- Strong stakeholder-management, influencing and communication skills, with experience partnering operational leaders and hiring managers to understand workforce needs, provide market insight and appropriately challenge.

- Experience contributing to workforce planning using vacancy trends, turnover, business priorities and anticipated demand to build recruitment plans and talent pipelines.

- Proven direct-sourcing and creative attraction capability across job boards, CV databases, social media, referrals, outreach/headhunting, community partnerships, talent pools and high-volume recruitment events.

- Strong screening and assessment capability, with experience coordinating interviews, candidate communications and offers and evaluating suitability for operational roles.

- Experience using an applicant tracking system, maintaining accurate recruitment records and producing/using recruitment reports, KPIs and labour-market insight to monitor performance and recommend improvements.

- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, commercial awareness and the ability to respond effectively to urgent and changing operational requirements, understanding the impact vacancies can have on service delivery, customers, overtime and agency spend.

- A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail and good knowledge of fair, inclusive and legally compliant recruitment, including data-protection requirements.

- Desirable
- Recruitment experience within facilities management or outsourced services, particularly cleaning, security, aviation, transport, engineering support or other site-based operational roles.

- Experience supporting contract mobilisations, business growth, seasonal campaigns, urgent workforce requirements and varied/non-standard shift patterns.

- Experience working with employability providers, community organisations, colleges or training partners and/or reducing agency reliance through direct sourcing and talent-pipeline activity.
