Job Description:

Position Summary

SCNA manufactures engineered components for automotive and other OEM customers. The AR Specialist owns the order-to-cash back end for assigned customers: accurate billing, timely cash application, proactive collections, and clean reporting. The role works closely with Customer Service, Logistics, Sales, and Plant Finance to keep receivables current and resolve disputes quickly, and helps ensure every transaction supports a clear, auditable close.

Key Responsibilities

Billing and Invoicing

- Review and release customer invoices, ensuring pricing, terms, and shipping documentation are correct

- Support customer-specific billing requirements, including OEM portals, EDI, and price adjustments or retroactive billings

- Coordinate with Sales and Pricing on contract changes, index-based adjustments, and credit/debit memos

Cash Application and Collections

- Apply customer payments daily and resolve unapplied cash and short-pays

- Monitor aging and run a disciplined collections cadence, escalating past-dues as needed

- Maintain customer credit files and flag credit risk to the Accounting Manager

Disputes and Deductions

- Investigate, document, and resolve pricing, quantity, quality, and freight deductions

- Escalate unresolved or high-value disputes to the Accounting Manager with documentation and a recommended resolution

- Partner with plants and Customer Service to root-cause recurring issues and drive corrective action

Month-End Close and Reporting

- Prepare AR subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations and support a timely month-end close

- Prepare AR aging, DSO, and past-due reporting for Accounting Manager review

- Propose reserve (allowance for doubtful accounts) recommendations for management approval

- Support intercompany AR activity where applicable

- Assist with audit requests, internal control (ICQ) testing, and supporting documentation

Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities to automate billing, cash application, and collections workflows

- Contribute to standard work and documentation using ITW's 80/20 mindset: focus effort on the customers and issues that drive most of the value or risk

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience

- 2–4 years of AR, billing, or collections experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

- Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups)

- Strong attention to detail

- Clear written and verbal communication with customers and internal stakeholders

Preferred

- Experience with automotive OEM customers, customer portals, and deduction management

- Familiarity with Power BI or other reporting tools

Core Competencies

- Ownership and urgency on collections and open items

- Analytical, problem-solving mindset

- Collaboration across Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams

- Integrity and strong internal-controls discipline
