Position Summary

The Head of Infrastructure Standards & Operational Management is a senior technology leader responsible for establishing the standards, governance, programs, asset discipline, and financial transparency that enable a scalable, resilient, and cost-effective global infrastructure environment.

This role leads Infrastructure Standards and Architecture Practices, Forward Deployed Engineering, Program and Project Management, Asset and Lifecycle Management, and FinOps/Technology Economics. The leader will partner closely with Infrastructure Engineering, Technology Operations, Product and CTO organizations, Enterprise Architecture, Cyber, Finance, Procurement, and strategic suppliers to establish clear, scalable operating practices. Infrastructure standards will be managed as versioned products with named owners, reusable automation, measurable adoption, lifecycle management, and feedback loops. The role will establish and lead an Engineering Challenge Review for material architecture decisions, standards, and exceptions, ensuring documented authority, rationale, conditions, actions, accountable owners, and expiration dates. Each Forward Deployed Engineering engagement must have a defined owner, baseline, target outcome, acceptance criteria, knowledge-transfer plan, reusable deliverables, and a durable operational owner. The leader will also establish retirement discipline so that migrations are not considered complete until displaced infrastructure, software, support models, and associated costs have been retired or an explicit exception has been approved. This role will produce decision-ready evidence using governed definitions, accountable owners, reliable sources, baselines, targets, and regular review cadences, while maintaining clear accountability boundaries: Engineering owns platform and modernization outcomes; Technology Operations owns operational command and service assurance; Enterprise Architecture, Cyber, Finance, and Procurement retain their enterprise authorities; and critical internal controls remain internal, even when suppliers execute work.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and manage enterprise infrastructure standards, reference architectures, non-functional requirements, exceptions, adoption measures, and lifecycle practices across cloud, on-premises infrastructure, networks, compute, storage, containers, automation, observability, resilience, and workplace technology.
- Establish practical governance for major architecture decisions and standards exceptions, including clear decision rights, ownership, actions, and expiration dates.
- Build reusable engineering patterns, implementation guidance, automation assets, and feedback loops to drive standards adoption.
- Lead a Forward Deployed Engineering capability that partners with teams to address high-value challenges involving infrastructure modernization, automation, Agentic AI, resilience, observability, and lifecycle management.
- Oversee strategic infrastructure programs and projects, including milestones, dependencies, risks, benefits, investment exposure, and executive decision-making.
- Establish effective governance forums and reporting that focus leadership attention on material risks, tradeoffs, commitments, and outcomes.
- Lead asset, configuration, capacity, licensing, lifecycle, and decommissioning governance to ensure reliable data, supportability, and timely retirement of legacy technology.
- Lead FinOps and technology economics, providing transparency into consumption, unit cost, forecasting, optimization opportunities, investment decisions, and benefits realization.
- Provide workload- and product-level cost insights to support architecture, modernization, supplier, capacity, and retirement decisions.
- Maintain clear internal accountability for architecture, controls, asset data, financial management, and outcomes while effectively governing strategic suppliers.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team that promotes technical credibility, accountability, automation, and evidence-based decision-making.

Qualifications

- Significant experience leading enterprise infrastructure architecture, engineering governance, technology operations, service management, or related disciplines in a complex global environment.
- Demonstrated success developing infrastructure standards, reference architectures, governance models, and adoption practices across engineering and operational teams.
- Strong knowledge of cloud and private-cloud operating models, networks, compute, storage, virtualization, containers, automation, observability, resilience, and operational risk controls.
- Experience in several of the following areas: technical governance, enterprise programs, embedded engineering, asset and lifecycle management, FinOps/TBM, infrastructure economics, and supplier governance.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical, operational, and financial information into clear executive decisions and measurable outcomes.
- Experience leading diverse teams, developing senior technical and management talent, and influencing stakeholders outside of a direct reporting structure.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder-management skills across Engineering, Operations, Product, Cyber, Finance, Procurement, and Risk.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience in financial services, fintech, market infrastructure, regulated technology, or another large enterprise
- environment.
- 10+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams, portfolios, or enterprise capabilities.
- Experience operating in regulated, high-availability, high-resilience, or client-critical environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Policy as Code, platform engineering, SRE, Agentic AI/AIOps, CMDB and asset-data governance, decommissioning, cloud economics, and strategic supplier controls.

Salary range $280,000.00- $300,000.00. Bonus Eligible.
