Job Description

Pacific Life is investing in bright, agile, and diverse talent to contribute to our mission of innovating our business and creating a superior customer experience. We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Financial Analyst II to join our Asset-Liability Management team within Pacific Life Investments. This role is on-site 4 days per week and work from home 1 day per week in our Newport Beach office.

As a Senior Financial Analyst II, you will perform complex and interpretive financial analysis to support enterprise investment planning, forecasting, financial and management decision-making. You will evaluate asset and liability cash flow and liquidity needs; develop forecasts and “what-if” scenarios; and translate results into clear conclusions and recommendations. You will partner with Finance, Treasury, Investments, Accounting, Actuarial, and business stakeholders to align analysis with enterprise objectives, improve financial and investment outcomes, and strengthen reporting processes and controls.

How you will make an impact:

- Prepare accurate and timely bi-weekly enterprise funding and cash reports; analyze actual and projected cash flows, funding needs, and liquidity positions; explain key trends and variances; and recommend actions to stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models, forecasts, and projection methodologies to assess current and future funding, liquidity, and ALM performance.
- Prepare management reports and special analyses that synthesize complex financial results, identify key performance drivers and risks, and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Partner with Divisional Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Actuarial, Investment Operations, and other stakeholders to reconcile financial data, evaluate assumptions, align forecasts with enterprise objectives, and support informed decision-making.
- Maintain robust reporting controls, documentation, and review procedures to promote data integrity, auditability, and effective change management.
- Improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial analysis and reporting through process redesign, automation, Snowflake-based data solutions, dashboards, and AI-enabled tools.
- Support ad hoc initiatives that inform enterprise financial and risk decisions, as well as other team reporting needs.

The experience you will bring:

- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, treasury, investments, ALM, or a related finance function; life insurance or financial services experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated experience performing complex financial analysis, developing forecasts or financial models, conducting scenario analysis, and explaining trends, variances, risks, and key business drivers.
- Strong analytical judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to evaluate data quality and challenge assumptions.
- Ability to manage recurring reporting deliverables and ad hoc analyses independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate financial analysis into clear conclusions, recommendations, and a range of potential outcomes for senior stakeholders.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with one or more analytical tools or programming languages, such as SQL, Python, R, or VBA.

What will make you stand out:

- Experience with management reporting, financial planning and analysis, liquidity or cash-flow forecasting, or asset-liability management.
- Knowledge of life insurance financial statements, products, investment portfolios, or related financial and regulatory concepts.
- Experience with data transformation, visualization, and reporting tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, or Power BI.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new financial concepts, systems, technologies, and business processes quickly.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
