About this role

Working at Atlassian

Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.

We are looking for a Technical Advisor (P70) to partner directly with our M100 Engineering Leadership.

As a P70 individual contributor, you operate across a department-level scope . You will serve as an intellectual sparring partner and trusted advisor to the engineering executive, evaluating complex technical architecture, driving cross-organizational alignment, and optimizing the engineering rhythm of business.

Your Future Org & Team
The Engineering organization builds and scales the foundational platforms and products that power teamwork for hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide. Our teams operate across distributed multi-cloud architectures, enterprise-grade security and governance, and agent-native AI platforms
Sitting directly within the Enterprise Foundation leadership office, you will operate at the intersection of Engineering, Architecture, Product Management, and Design to ensure executive priorities translate into durable technical outcomes.

In this role, you will:

- Strategic & Technical Advisory: Partner closely with M100 leaders to evaluate high-stakes technical proposals, RFCs, and architectural trade-offs across distributed systems
- Cross-Department Influence: Drive alignment and unblock complex technical initiatives across multiple M60/M70 engineering teams without direct line authority
- Rhythm of Business & Operational Rigor: Define and run department-level operational rhythms, including OKR tracking, strategic milestone reviews, and executive briefing synthesis
- Incident & Technical Health Governance: Partner with technical leads to identify systemic operational risks, platform debt, and reliability bottlenecks, ensuring follow-through on architectural remediations
- Executive Communication & Integration: Synthesize complex technical dilemmas into crisp, decision-ready frameworks for executive forums and board-level discussions
- Engineering Excellence: Champion developer productivity, engineering standards, and platform modernization across the broader department

Must-Haves

- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems architecture, or technical program management operating at scale
- Demonstrated P70-level scope: Proven track record of leading cross-organizational initiatives where business, product, and technical strategies are ambiguous or undefined
- Deep technical acumen: Hands-on software credibility with the ability to dive into code, system flows, microservices architecture, and technical trade-offs (e.g., consistency vs. latency, debt vs. velocity)
- Executive partner presence: Exceptional communication and framing skills, with experience acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives and multi-disciplinary teams
- Strategic program execution: Strong ability to connect high-level strategy to execution, tracking delivery health across distributed teams

Nice-to-Haves

- Prior experience in a Chief of Staff, Technical Advisor, or Principal TPM capacity within an enterprise SaaS engineering org
- Experience with large-scale cloud transformations, developer platform ecosystems, or AI/ML-native architecture
- Active participation in industry architecture forums, thought leadership, or open-source communities
