Overview

M42 is a global health champion powered by artificial intelligence (AI), technology, and genomics to advance innovation in health for people and the planet. Established in 2022 through the coming together of Mubadala Health and G42 Healthcare, M42 brings together world-class healthcare facilities, advanced diagnostics, AI-enabled technologies, and data-driven insights to transform how health systems operate and how patients access care. Today, the company operates more than 480 facilities across 26 countries, supported by over 20,000 employees.

We are seeking a Director, M&A and Investment to lead the identification, evaluation and execution of strategic growth opportunities across M42, including acquisitions, greenfield initiatives, partnerships, joint ventures, divestments and other capital deployment activities. Reporting to the Chief M&A and Business Development Officer, the role will shape investment priorities, manage the opportunity pipeline, guide transactions across the full investment lifecycle and partner with senior leaders to strengthen M42’s competitive position and create long-term value.

Responsibilities

- Shape and execute M42’s inorganic growth strategy by identifying strategic themes, market opportunities and investment priorities across healthcare and adjacent sectors, and advising on portfolio positioning, strategic alternatives and capital allocation.

- Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline of acquisition and strategic investment opportunities; cultivate relationships with operators, investors, advisors, business owners and other market participants; and apply disciplined screening, prioritisation and portfolio review.

- Lead the end-to-end evaluation and execution of acquisitions, greenfields, partnerships, joint ventures, divestments and other strategic transactions, from initial assessment through signing and closing.

- Direct cross-functional and cross-asset deal teams, oversee commercial, financial, operational, legal and regulatory due diligence, and lead transaction structuring and negotiations to achieve strategic and financial objectives while managing risk.

- Provide clear, commercially sound recommendations to executive leadership and governance forums; develop and present strategic assessments, business cases and transaction materials; challenge assumptions; and facilitate informed, timely decisions.

- Partner with asset teams after closing to support integration, synergy realisation and portfolio reviews; monitor performance against approved business cases; and identify actions that enhance returns and long-term value.

- Represent M42 with investors, advisors and counterparties; build trusted internal and external relationships; align diverse stakeholders; maintain effective communication throughout each initiative; and oversee external advisors and specialist consultants.

- Lead, coach and develop the M&A team, while ensuring transactions comply with governance requirements, delegated authorities and applicable regulations; uphold confidentiality and ethical risk management; and continuously improve processes, tools and reporting.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline; an MBA or master’s degree in Finance, Strategy, Healthcare Management or a related field is preferred.

- 12–15 years of experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, strategy or a related field, with a demonstrated record of leading complex acquisitions and strategic investments.

- Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated industry is preferred, together with knowledge of healthcare markets, operating models and regulatory environments.

- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary transaction teams and external advisors, manage senior stakeholders, influence executive-level decisions and operate effectively in a complex, matrixed organisation.

- Strong strategic, commercial and financial acumen, with deep knowledge of M&A processes, valuation, due diligence, transaction structuring and negotiation.

- People leadership experience, including coaching, development and performance management of investment professionals or other direct reports.

- Excellent stakeholder management, executive communication and presentation skills, supported by advanced Excel and PowerPoint capability and fluency in written and spoken English.

- Experience across GCC and/or international markets, cross-border transactions, international partnerships, post-merger integration, portfolio management and value creation is preferred.
