- Play a key role in protecting client assets and mitigating financial crime risk by leading structured engagement, service relationship management, and third-party oversight across multiple jurisdictions.

What you'll do:

As Vice President for FCOE Sanctions Non-London Branch Engagement and Governance at MUFG, you will play a central role in shaping how sanctions services are delivered across EMEA branches outside London. Your day-to-day activities will involve building trusted relationships with branch stakeholders, ensuring that all aspects of sanctions governance are clearly defined and monitored. You will coordinate service review meetings with various teams such as Legal, Operations and Risk to oversee inter-affiliate agreements. By analysing trends in performance data and identifying emerging risks or control weaknesses, you will present concise recommendations to senior stakeholders. Your ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements in practical terms will help ensure local processes align with global standards. You will also be responsible for planning exit strategies for sanctions services during crises—ensuring business continuity—and supporting third-party risk management through diligent oversight. Success in this role requires you to foster collaboration across teams while driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance transparency, efficiency and resilience throughout the region.

- Lead structured engagement with non-London EMEA branches on sanctions service delivery, governance, risk and control matters, ensuring clear communication and collaborative problem-solving.
- Act as the principal FCOE Sanctions contact for relevant branch stakeholders, coordinating queries, concerns and decisions promptly to maintain effective relationships.
- Establish robust governance routines including agendas, papers, actions, decision records and escalation routes that promote consistency while recognising jurisdictional requirements.
- Communicate regional and global sanctions requirements in practical terms to ensure local processes are understood and implemented appropriately.
- Identify common themes, control weaknesses and service challenges across locations; escalate material matters with clear recommendations for corrective action.
- Oversee sanctions-related service relationship management by coordinating review meetings, monitoring actions and transparently reporting performance, risks and dependencies.
- Coordinate periodic review and maintenance of inter-affiliate agreements in partnership with Legal, Operations, Risk and other control functions to ensure responsibilities are documented.
- Plan, coordinate and maintain sanctions service exit plans required for crisis situations to support uninterrupted provision of services.
- Monitor adherence to agreed services including KPIs and KRIs; drive remediation or escalation where performance falls outside approved tolerances.
- Support third-party due diligence, risk assessments, periodic reviews and contingency planning while maintaining evidence for internal review or regulatory scrutiny.
