About this role

Press Technician / Molding Press Technician

Our client is a global manufacturer supplying the automotive industry, with production operations across North America, Europe, and Asia and a century-long track record in the sector. Their Middle Tennessee plant runs a busy injection molding operation, and they are hiring a Press Technician / Molding Press Technician for 2nd shift.

This is a hands-on production role. You will keep high-volume injection molding presses running — loading material, monitoring cycles, inspecting parts, and supporting the plant's mold setters during changeovers. It is a direct path to a Mold Setter / Process Technician role for operators who prove themselves on the floor.

What You Will Do

Running production

- Operate and monitor injection molding presses throughout the shift according to the daily production schedule
- Load material and verify resin and lot specifications against the job requirements
- Inspect parts for quality — spot short shots, flash, sink, burns, and dimensional issues as they happen
- Purge and transition material or color as needed under direction
- Document production output, scrap, and downtime accurately

Supporting changeovers

- Assist setters during mold changes: staging tooling, waterlines, clamps, and fittings under supervision
- Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and forklifts for material and tool handling where certified
- Set up and verify auxiliary equipment including dryers, loaders, temperature control units, and conveyors

Reliability and safety

- Follow lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and safe lifting procedures without exception
- Keep your work area organized and 5S compliant
- Work with production, quality, and maintenance to keep presses running and hit the schedule
- Flag tooling or process issues before they become downtime

Requirements

What You Bring

- 1+ years operating injection molding presses (or working directly alongside them) in a production environment
- Understanding of molding fundamentals: cycles, tooling basics, and part quality
- Mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools; ability to read work instructions and setup sheets
- Comfort working around heavy machinery and tooling
- Ability to work first shift on-site, stand for extended periods, and lift and maneuver as the job requires
