Our iconic products are brought to life by a dedicated team of 800 passionate employees and sold in over 90 markets worldwide.
** This is a full-time, 6-month freelance position **
What you’ll do:
We're looking for someone with the experience to lead the creative concept for all our physical channels (retail, experiential, events, trade shows and pop-ups), from first mood board to finished space. You'll set the experience principles and design foundations that make every Marshall space feel unmistakably ours, and lead global concepts for brand stores and shop-in-shops.
We're an authentic brand deeply rooted in the music community, so our spaces are designed to feel like a stage for music and culture, not just a place to buy products.
Beyond a strong visual and spatial eye, key skills include an interest in music, culture and interior design, an understanding of how people move through and experience a space, and the ability to visualise and present ideas, using AI and 3D tools to mock up and iterate quickly. You'll work closely with industrial designers, agencies and production partners to bring concepts to life.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead concept development and art direction for brand stores, shop-in-shops, retail tours and trade shows, from mood board to in-store mock-up
- Define and maintain the experience principles and design foundations (brand expression, storytelling, product hierarchy, materials, light and interaction)
- Shape floor plans and the experience strategy for each space
- Work closely with industrial designers, agencies and production partners to make concepts buildable through construction-true mock-ups, renders and fixtures
- Create and maintain toolkits and guidelines, and onboard internal teams and external agencies on them
- Review adaptations against concept and guidelines
- Write creative briefs for our global retail agency when needed, and brief and review production partners and external talent
- Mock up ideas and spaces early, using AI, 3D and render tools, in line with Marshall's brand, IP and AI guidelines
- Guide designers and freelancers on final artwork
- Work with local markets, Retail, Packaging, E-com and the wider creative team (AD, designers, copywriters, motion) to keep executions consistent
- Stay up to date on cultural and retail trends, and take a proactive approach to own skill development
Who we’re looking for:
- Strong conceptual storytelling, typography and layout skills
- Able to present, explain and educate on concepts, and onboard internal teams and external agencies on toolkits and guidelines
- Works independently and as creative lead together with industrial designers, GlobalChannel, agencies and local markets
- Runs multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
- Strong eye for detail, quality and physical experiences, from mood board to golden sample review
- Understanding of motion and content for in-store screens and social
- Passionate about music, consumer electronics and about strengthening Marshall's challenger position with breakthrough creative
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
You probably have the following experiences & skills:
- 8+ years in art direction and/or experiential design, ideally from both agency and in-house
- Experience in interior design, retail environments and VM, with a strong sense of space, materials and customer flow
- Experience with floor plans and experience strategy: how customers move through, discover and experience a space
- 360° omnichannel experience, connecting events, PR, media and social with retail
- Experience defining experience principles, design systems, toolkits and guidelines for retail, experiential or events
- Experience writing creative briefs and leading external agencies and production partners
- Experience working closely with industrial designers, with an understanding of how fixtures are built and adapted to budget
- Experience from a Tech, Lifestyle or similar consumer brand; consumer goods retail or e-com a plus
- Adobe Creative Suite / Figma and hands-on AI visualisation tools (e.g. Midjourney, Adobe Firefly); basic 3D/render skills a plus
