About this role
At Mindler, our mission is to make high-quality mental healthcare more accessible to everyone who needs it.
We are a leading European digital mental healthcare provider, combining experienced clinicians with innovative digital tools to deliver effective, personalised mental health support.
In the UK, we have an established track record of delivering evidence-based psychological therapies to the NHS, alongside a growing presence in the private healthcare market. Our services support adults, children and young people through a range of flexible treatment pathways, combining human-led therapy with digital innovation.
We are now looking for an ambitious and experienced Business Development Director to accelerate our growth across the UK healthcare market.
The opportunity
This is a senior, commercially focused role with significant autonomy and direct accountability for new business growth.
Your primary focus will be accelerating Mindler's growth in the UK healthcare market, particularly private medical insurance, income protection insurance and NHS Talking Therapies. You will build on Mindler's established market presence and work alongside our existing account management team.
You will identify and develop new commercial opportunities, establish relationships with senior decision-makers, and take opportunities from initial engagement through to contract signature.
We are looking for someone who combines strategic commercial thinking with a hands-on approach to sales. You will be comfortable shaping our market approach, but equally motivated to be out meeting prospective customers, developing relationships, negotiating commercial agreements and winning business.
You will take a consultative approach to business development, investing time to understand prospective customers' priorities, challenges and unmet needs. You will use these insights to identify where Mindler can deliver value, shape compelling customer-specific propositions and lead opportunities from initial engagement through to contract signature.
Working closely with the UK Managing Director and colleagues across clinical, product, operations and marketing, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering Mindler's next phase of growth.
This is a home-based position with required UK travel. Candidates also have the option to work out of our Cambridge headquarters.
Key responsibilities:
Drive new business growth
- Own and deliver new business revenue targets, with a primary focus on private medical insurers and income protection insurers.
- Proactively identify, qualify and develop opportunities, building a strong and sustainable sales pipeline.
- Lead the full business development cycle, from prospecting and relationship building through to proposal development, negotiation and contract signature.
- Build relationships with senior stakeholders, including insurance executives, healthcare commissioners, NHS providers and strategic partners.
- Identify and secure new opportunities within NHS Talking Therapies, collaborating with the existing account management team to leverage established customer relationships and market knowledge.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for strategic partnerships and new routes to market.
Develop and execute commercial strategy
- Translate Mindler's UK growth priorities into clear, actionable business development plans.
- Develop a deep understanding of prospective customers' business models, strategic priorities, challenges and purchasing processes.
- Lead customer discovery conversations to identify unmet needs and opportunities where Mindler's services can deliver meaningful value.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of Mindler's services and capabilities, enabling you to confidently represent our offering and lead customer conversations.
- Shape commercial models, pricing approaches and partnership opportunities in collaboration with the wider business.
- Bring market intelligence, competitor insights and customer feedback into strategic and product development decisions.
Lead commercial opportunities to successful outcomes
- Develop persuasive proposals, business cases, presentations and commercial offers that demonstrate the value of Mindler's services.
- Lead complex sales processes involving multiple stakeholders, procurement requirements and commercial negotiations.
- Coordinate internal teams to develop competitive bids and customer solutions.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships that support both initial contract wins and future account growth.
Own commercial performance
- Take ownership of delivering agreed annual new business revenue targets across our priority markets.
- Build and grow a strong, qualified sales pipeline, with sufficient opportunities to support both short-term and longer-term growth.
- Drive opportunities through the sales process, converting qualified prospects into signed customer contracts.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline reporting and revenue forecasts, providing clear visibility of progress against targets.
- Proactively prioritise opportunities and adapt commercial activities to maintain momentum and achieve results.
Success in this role will be measured by annual new business revenue secured, growth in the value of the qualified sales pipeline, and conversion of opportunities into signed contracts.
