About this role
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a Facilities & EHS Manager to help create and maintain a safe, compliant, reliable, and high-performing manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on role with broad ownership across Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), facilities operations, maintenance and reliability, emergency preparedness, and site improvement projects. You’ll work closely with site leadership, manufacturing, engineering, quality, contractors, and frontline teams to identify risks, solve problems, and ensure our people and facility are positioned to operate safely and effectively.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the operation—someone who can develop strong programs and long-term plans while also stepping onto the manufacturing floor, troubleshooting an issue, coordinating a repair, or helping the team respond to an emerging need.
What You'll Do
- Lead Environmental, Health & Safety
Lead and continuously improve site EHS programs to maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local requirements.
- Conduct inspections and risk assessments, identify hazards, and drive corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain required EHS records, permits, reporting, and regulatory documentation.
- Build a strong safety culture through training, communication, and partnership with employees and leaders.
- Keep Our Facility Running Reliably
Oversee facility infrastructure, utilities, building systems, security, grounds, and services supporting site operations.
- Manage preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and corrective actions to improve reliability and minimize downtime.
- Manage contractors, service providers, service agreements, and related purchasing.
- Maintain required facility inspections, permits, certifications, and maintenance records.
- Lead Facility Projects & Improvements
Plan and lead facility repairs, upgrades, modifications, and improvement projects.
- Partner across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, IT, and Operations to prioritize facility and infrastructure needs.
- Support operating budgets, capital planning, space planning, and site expansion.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, workplace conditions, energy efficiency, and site readiness.
- Drive Site Readiness & Continuous Improvement
Lead the Emergency Response Team and maintain emergency preparedness and fire prevention programs.
- Coordinate EHS training, emergency drills, and ongoing readiness activities.
- Serve as the primary site resource for EHS and facilities, providing practical guidance and driving issues through resolution.
- Communicate risks, priorities, and performance to leadership while building shared accountability for a safe, compliant, and reliable workplace.
- Support other projects and assignments as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 14+ years (H.S. Diploma) | 12+ years (A.A.) | 7+ years (Bachelor's) | 5+ years (Master's)
- 5+ years of progressive experience across EHS, facilities, plant operations, maintenance, or related functions within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience overseeing facility infrastructure, building systems, preventive maintenance, contractors/service providers, and facility improvement projects.
- Experience developing and maintaining EHS programs and applying OSHA, EPA, and applicable state regulatory requirements to site operations.
- Experience operating in a complex, cross-functional manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and other functions.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn facility, maintenance, and other business systems.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or similar professional certification preferred.
- HAZWOPER and/or HAZMAT certification preferred.
Who You Are
- Strong knowledge of EHS principles, facility operations, and regulatory requirements within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with facility infrastructure, building systems, preventive maintenance, contractor management, and general facility operations.
- The ability to translate regulatory and operational requirements into practical, sustainable programs.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive effective corrective actions.
- Experience planning and coordinating maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, vendors, projects, and programs without losing attention to detail or follow-through.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills and the ability to influence decisions and drive accountability without relying on direct authority.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills across frontline employees, leadership, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Strong judgment and a proactive approach to identifying safety, compliance, facility reliability, and operational risks.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to make the workplace safer, more reliable, and more effective.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly move throughout an active manufacturing facility using designated walkways and access routes.
- Sit or remain stationary for extended periods while completing computer-based work, documentation, and reporting.
- Regularly communicate verbally and in writing with employees, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Occasionally lift, move, or adjust objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Safely use appropriate tools and equipment as needed during facility inspections, troubleshooting, and Emergency Response Team activities.
- Perform repetitive motions associated with computer and documentation work.
- Read and review documents, equipment information, signage, and computer screens with appropriate visual acuity.
