Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Scope: The Manager leads complex, sensitive investigations involving alleged fraud, misconduct, conflicts of interest, asset misappropriation, and policy violations across Carnival Corporation and its global brands. Operating with a high degree of independence, the role develops risk-based investigation strategies, evaluates evidence, conducts interviews and data analysis, and reaches objective, well-supported conclusions. The Manager also assesses the design and effectiveness of controls intended to mitigate fraud risk across shoreside and shipboard operations. Through collaboration with Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Human Resources, Information Security, and business leadership, the role identifies root causes, recommends practical control improvements, and supports effective remediation. This position advances RAAS’s mission by providing senior management and the Board of Directors with timely, evidence-based insights that help protect the Company’s people, assets, reputation, and values while supporting compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Rreaches objective, well-supported conclusions” rather than “determining whether fraudulent activity has occurred,” which can imply a legal determination beyond Internal Audit’s remit.
- Problem Solving: The Manager applies sound judgment, professional skepticism, and structured problem-solving techniques to complex, sensitive, and often ambiguous matters. The role evaluates information from multiple sources, identifies inconsistencies and emerging risk patterns, and uses financial and operational data analysis to develop and test investigative hypotheses. The Manager distills complex findings into clear, evidence-based conclusions and recommends practical actions that address root causes, strengthen controls, and reduce the risk of recurrence.
- Impact: The Manager’s work directly supports the Company’s ability to respond effectively to alleged misconduct, protect its people, assets, and reputation, and maintain a strong control environment. The role communicates sensitive findings to senior leaders and requires exceptional integrity, discretion, objectivity, and sound judgment. Investigation outcomes may influence significant management, compliance, employment, legal, and remediation decisions.
- Leadership: This role is an individual contributor position with no direct reports; however, it is expected to influence senior stakeholders, lead investigations, coordinate cross-functional teams, and provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members as needed.
Essential/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Six or more years of progressive experience in corporate investigations, forensic accounting, Internal Audit, Ethics & Compliance, or Risk Advisory, including experience leading complex investigations or cross-functional engagements.
- CFE, CIA, CPA, or comparable professional certification—or active progress toward certification.
- Demonstrated experience conducting investigative interviews, analyzing evidence, performing root-cause analysis, and preparing clear, defensible investigation reports.
- Strong knowledge of fraud risks, internal controls, corporate governance, evidence preservation, confidentiality, legal privilege, data privacy, and records-retention requirements.
- Experience with whistleblower allegations, anti-retaliation requirements, and cross-border investigations.
- Knowledge of COSO, IIA Standards, anti-bribery and corruption requirements, sanctions, or anti-money-laundering controls.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial and operational data; experience using data analytics, case-management, eDiscovery, or forensic technology tools.
- Ability to manage multiple sensitive matters independently while exercising integrity, professional skepticism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex or sensitive findings to senior leaders.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Legal, Human Resources, Ethics & Compliance, Information Security, and other stakeholders across jurisdictions and cultures.
- Ability to work across time zones and accommodate occasional urgent, international, or shipboard assignments, as business needs require.
Essential Experience Required:
- Proven success leading complex, sensitive, and confidential investigations from initial assessment and scoping through reporting and remediation.
- Experience investigating alleged fraud, misconduct, conflicts of interest, asset misappropriation, policy violations, or related matters.
- Demonstrated ability to develop investigative strategies, conduct interviews, evaluate evidence, analyze complex data, and reach objective, well-supported conclusions.
- Experience preparing clear, defensible reports and presenting sensitive findings to senior leaders and other key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to navigate politically sensitive matters involving senior executives or cross-functional stakeholders with discretion and independence.
- Experience partnering with Legal, Human Resources, Ethics & Compliance, Information Security, and business leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to identify root causes and control weaknesses and develop practical, risk-based recommendations.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent investigations across business units, jurisdictions, cultures, or time zones.
