As a Senior Portfolio Consultant, IPC Private Wealth & IPC One at Canada Life, you will play a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of the IPC Private Wealth and IPC One managed account programs. Acting as a trusted technical resource to advisors, you will provide portfolio management expertise, conduct portfolio suitability reviews, exercise portfolio approval authority, and help ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met. This is an individual contributor role centred on reviewing and approving advisor-proposed portfolios within established managed account programs, rather than selecting securities or independently managing bespoke client portfolios. Working closely with advisors and internal partners, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality discretionary wealth management solutions while helping enhance the advisor and client experience.

What you will do:

- Advisor Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with IPC securities advisors and become a trusted subject matter expert, providing guidance on portfolio construction, managed account solutions, suitability, and portfolio-related inquiries.

- Portfolio Review & Approval: Review, assess, approve, modify, or decline advisor-proposed portfolio recommendations to ensure suitability, alignment to client objectives, investment policy statements (IPS), and program requirements.

- Evolve and Shape : Evole and shape the compliance and governance program for our discretionary wealth platform

- Complex Portfolio Analysis: Evaluate complex portfolio situations, including concentrated positions, legacy holdings, embedded tax considerations, diversification, and risk management strategies.

- Portfolio Construction Guidance: Assist advisors in developing portfolio recommendations using IPC Private Wealth and IPC One solutions and support customization requests within approved mandates and program parameters.

- Client & Advisor Support: Participate alongside securities advisors in high-touch client portfolio reviews and help explain portfolio recommendations, investment outcomes, market developments and performance.

- Governance & Program Support: Support portfolio governance activities, committee reporting, program monitoring and governance support, regulatory requirements, and compliance initiatives.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Portfolio Management, Business Development, Compliance, Operations, Registration, and other Canada Life and IPC teams to support strategic objectives and deliver an exceptional advisor experience.

- Program Enhancement: Identify opportunities to improve program effectiveness, operational efficiency, and advisor support processes while maintaining appropriate regulatory controls.

What you will bring:

- Investment Management Expertise: Strong knowledge of portfolio construction, asset allocation, diversification, portfolio risk assessment, performance analysis, and discretionary wealth management.

- Industry Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience within wealth management, portfolio management, investment management, or a related financial services environment, preferably supporting discretionary or managed account platforms.

- Advisor-Facing Experience: Proven ability to build credibility and establish strong relationships with advisors, stakeholders, and high-net-worth clients.

- Portfolio Suitability Knowledge: Experience reviewing and assessing portfolio recommendations, investment policy statements (IPS), suitability requirements, and regulatory standards.

- Sound Judgment: Confidence and professionalism to approve, modify, or challenge portfolio recommendations while maintaining positive advisor relationships.

- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex investment concepts clearly and effectively.

- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Detail-oriented with strong quantitative, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.

- Independence & Accountability: Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of decisions in a highly regulated environment.

- Education & Designations: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline. A CFA charter or CIM designation is required, with the CFA preferred.

- Registration Requirements: The successful candidate must obtain CIRO approval in the Portfolio Manager category. Current CIRO Portfolio Manager approval is preferred. We will also consider candidates currently registered as an Advising Representative of a portfolio manager under NI 31-103, or candidates who hold the required designation and can demonstrate the relevant investment management experience necessary to obtain CIRO Portfolio Manager approval. All applications are subject to assessment and approval by IPC, CIRO and the applicable securities regulators.

- Technology & Tools: Experience with investment research and portfolio analytics platforms; Morningstar Direct experience is considered an asset.
