About this role

Blue Light Card. Individually great, together unstoppable

The Role and the Team

We're looking for a BI Analyst to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract, focused on metrics governance and enablement. Reporting to the BI Lead, you'll be part of a small, closely connected team and work with colleagues across every function, including senior stakeholders, to agree what our key measures mean and who owns them. You'll then build the data models and reporting that bring those measures to life and help people use self-serve analytics with confidence.

It's a hands-on role for someone who loves building, and who equally enjoys working with people to turn business questions into clear answers. You'll work mainly in SQL, dbt and Lightdash, alongside Claude and other AI-assisted development, in a fast-paced, supportive, AI-first environment with plenty of room to take ownership.

What You'll Do

- Support our metrics governance programme by helping stakeholders agree consistent definitions and clear ownership of key measures
- Build and maintain data models and dashboards end to end, from the first business question to a finished product colleagues can use with confidence
- Scope, build, test and deliver dbt and SQL work, using AI-assisted development where it helps and checking the output carefully
- Document and test the data behind each key measure, and keep definitions and supporting documentation current so knowledge is shared rather than held by one person
- Deliver regular business reporting with accuracy and care, and keep our analytics tools reliable and easy to use
- Coach colleagues who are not data specialists, explaining concepts simply and sharing good practice so teams can act on data without waiting on the Data team
- Partner with stakeholders across the business, including senior stakeholders, to understand their priorities and turn them into clear, reliable measures and reporting
- Turn open-ended business problems and ad hoc questions into clear analysis and recommendations that guide next steps, and keep people informed of progress, risks and any support needed

What You'll Bring

- Hands-on experience building and maintaining data models in a modern analytics stack, such as dbt, in a professional setting
- Strong SQL and data modelling skills, with the ability to scope, build, test and deliver your own work
- Experience building dashboards and reports in a BI tool, such as Lightdash, Looker or Tableau
- Comfort working with stakeholders at all levels, including senior stakeholders: asking the right questions, explaining clearly and building agreement together
- The ability to turn an open-ended business problem into clear analysis and a recommendation others can act on, while managing multiple priorities
- Experience of coaching or building confidence in colleagues who are not data specialists
- Use of AI tools to work faster and more accurately, with good judgement on checking the output
- Experience of metrics governance, working with data in a digitally native or fast-paced environment, or working in an AI or machine learning setting would be a bonus

The frequency and office location will vary depending on the role and team. We aim to be flexible, but we aren't able to offer fully remote working.
