HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of UK Commercial Banking Enterprise Architect

You’ll set the technology direction across the wider UK CMB estate, including Mid-Market Enterprises, Large Corporates and HSBC Innovation Banking UK. You’ll turn business priorities into clear architecture strategies, target states and roadmaps, ensuring funded strategic change initiatives align with HSBC’s global platforms while meeting UK customer, regulatory, resilience and control requirements. Working with CIOs, business leaders, global value streams and specialist technology teams, you’ll manage dependencies, shape investment decisions, simplify the technology estate and provide practical guidance that enables teams to deliver secure, resilient and sustainable change.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you’ll:

- Own and maintain the enterprise architecture vision, target state and roadmap for UK Commercial Banking, including Mid-Market Enterprises, Large Corporates and HSBC Innovation Banking UK

- Translate business priorities into clear technology strategies, architecture options, recommendations and investment decisions

- Represent UK CMB requirements across global value streams, including Credit and Capital Management, Global Payments and Global Trade Services

- Ensure funded Strategic Change Initiatives align with strategic platforms, Group architecture principles, UK regulatory requirements, resilience standards and control expectations

- Assess material initiatives and solutions, clearly documenting trade-offs, dependencies, risks, transition plans and alignment to the target architecture

- Maintain an accurate view of the application and technology estate, identifying ownership, lifecycle status, duplication, technical debt and simplification opportunities

- Lead architecture governance by producing decision papers, maintaining architecture risks and exceptions, recording outcomes and escalating cross-value-stream issues

- Coordinate specialist architects and senior stakeholders across business, technology, security, data, infrastructure, engineering, risk and control teams to deliver joined-up, pragmatic architecture outcomes

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

- Strong experience in enterprise, domain or solution architecture within a large and complex organisation, ideally in banking or financial services

- Strong technology literacy across engineering, cloud, data and software architecture, with the ability to assess modern technology patterns, platforms, integration approaches and delivery practices and translate them into secure, resilient and practical enterprise architecture outcomes

- Good understanding of commercial banking capabilities, customer journeys and supporting technology across lending, payments, trade, onboarding and servicing

- Proven ability to develop enterprise architecture views, target states, technology strategies and practical roadmaps

- Experience analysing dependencies, risks, transition plans and trade-offs, and producing clear options and decision papers

- Ability to influence global platforms, value streams and senior stakeholders across organisational and geographical boundaries

- Working knowledge of security, resilience, data, privacy, records management and technology risk controls

- Practical experience in architecture governance and application portfolio management, including simplification, rationalisation and lifecycle management
