About this role
RWE Renewables Iberia S.A.U.
To start as soon as possible, part time, fixed term (1 year)
Gain hands-on experience in renewable energy performance by working alongside experienced engineers to monitor and analyse wind, solar PV and battery storage assets. You will help prepare reliable datasets, dashboards and first-level performance insights while developing practical knowledge of renewable energy operations, SCADA analytics and asset optimisation.
About the role
- Support routine monitoring of SCADA data and operational KPIs for wind turbines, PV plants and BESS assets
- Assist with data extraction, cleaning and validation, including time alignment, missing-data checks, outlier review and operating-state filtering
- Prepare recurring reports and dashboards covering availability, capacity factor, performance ratio, efficiency and energy losses
- Help categorise losses and investigate basic expected-versus-actual performance deviations using agreed methods
- Support power-curve, inverter, tracker, string, temperature, state-of-charge and efficiency analyses using standard templates and tools
- Assist with peer comparisons, trend analysis and the review of alerts generated by normal-behaviour and anomaly-detection models
- Document findings clearly, including relevant trends, operating conditions and preliminary estimates of energy impact
- Maintain issue trackers and support follow-up of corrective actions, recovered energy and verified value
- Perform quality checks on analysis outputs and flag inconsistent data or results for engineer review
- Contribute to small automation, reporting and process-improvement initiatives with support from performance and data engineering teams
Your profile
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, data science, physics, mathematics, computer science or a related technical field
- Strong interest in renewable energy, asset performance, data analytics and predictive maintenance, with basic knowledge of wind, solar PV and/or battery storage
- Academic, project or industry experience working with numerical datasets; exposure to time-series or SCADA data is an advantage
- Basic skills in Python and/or SQL and Excel, including data preparation, data quality checks, descriptive statistics, regression and data visualisation
- Understanding of key renewable-energy performance concepts such as availability, capacity factor, performance ratio, efficiency and energy losses; interest in anomaly detection and condition monitoring
- Curious, analytical and methodical, able to work independently and collaboratively, communicate findings clearly in English, and motivated to learn tools such as Databricks, Power BI or Tableau as well as relevant industry standards and operational processe
