This will be a joint appointment between MIE (51%) and EngSci (49%). The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths .

The successful candidate will be jointly appointed to the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (MIE) and the Division of Engineering Science (EngSci); however, a background in mechanical or industrial engineering is not required as the position considers engineering design broadly across all engineering disciplines aligned with EngSci’s nine interdisciplinary majors.

The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses in these areas to undergraduate students in EngSci and beyond. Candidates must be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer. This is important as faculty members teaching design courses to undergraduate students must be Professional Engineers for program accreditation as set out by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. - Redefine, reshape, and continuously improve the Engineering Science design curriculum, and hence, the candidate should be comfortable with a wide variety of design pedagogies, as demonstrated through the application materials.

- Collaborate with other members of the faculty to blend engineering design education with communication and teamwork.

- Serve as the Division’s representative on various faculty and divisional committee/s as required.
